Title: I'm burned out on Barbell rows, T Bar Rows, and One Arm Rows. . . .for now
Post by: Royalty on March 13, 2008, 05:14:49 PM
I've been doing free weight rows for years and my back training has been lack luster. I've never been a fan of Hammer Machines. But Im making the swith to Hammer Low Rows and Hammer High Rows for a while.

The Only free weight movement for back I will be doing is Barbell Deadlifts from the floor. I may add Barbell Cleans.

Any other suggestions you guys have? What do you think about the low row/high row hammer machines?

If you want size I think you should stay away from the machines.

I would agree but if he's been doing them for years a break for a little while could do him some good.

I alternate workouts between free weights and machines/cables.  Keeps my body guessing and keeps me from getting board.

True! But how is his technique and consistency? There are many variables here that you have to ask yourself.

Hey Royalty, what's next for Spitzer?

I guess he said that his political carreer is done. He is unemployed, humiliated, embarrassed his wife and kids, he is facing criminal charges and possible jail time, nobody trusts him, has many enemies, hopefully he can keep his family from falling apart. Blew $80,000 on prostitutes. He is paying a big price. He wanted to be president and now has to live with regret. All his dreames are dashed. I think he may try suicide. He needs Jesus.

I am very consistent. But I have some minor strains in the bicep/forearm area that need to heal up and hitting the free weights for rows taxes the arms more than the machines.

I will be back to free weight rows soon.

You're like the only guy who lifts weights on here, don't know why you're asking here...

I don't agree with that. Resistance is resistance. You can get a great workout with machines and cables.

Huh ??? Can you please explain to me the logic behind this statement?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, it's a serious question.

Go back to your original routine. Only do the hammer machines on days you feel tired/burnt. Do not switch your entire routine to machines and hammer strength or you can kiss your size good bye.

I have been attempting to to pre exhaust for the back just to shock them for example before pulldown s i do straight arm pushdowns, before any rows I do low bent over cable shrugs, so by the time i get to the back work i am already feeling a pump.

see i was always told and have been an advocate of never going behind the neck with any move one mostly because it causes great strain on my left shoulder and two because i believe that going behind the neck with any move puts the rotator cuff in a very comprising position to say the least....but i know some guys that swear bye behind the neck moves and others like myself who wont go near it...but yes chin-ups and pull ups and palms facing in are all good ways to hit the back from different angles...

i`m always combing free weights & machine work....when my joints will get sore after working out heavy with free weights for too long, i will do same machine work first (Hammer-Machines, long-pulley-rows, triceps-extensions on the Lat-pulldown.....)
