Title: Guess who's making a cameo appearance in NEW HULK MOVIE!!!
Post by: Pollux on March 17, 2008, 04:58:23 AM
William Hurt, star of this year's The Incredible Hulk do-over, recently spilled the beans to MTV News about Iron Man's cameo in the big green movie.

Hurt talked about the appearance of Iron Man's character in the film. "I have a scene with Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr. It's a funky scene," he said to MTV on Friday. The Net talked with the Oscar-winning actor at the Sundance Film Festival where he was promoting Yellow Handkerchief.

According to MTV, this is all a scheme devised by Marvel themselves:

For those who haven't heard the news, superhero house Marvel Comics is aggressively cross-pollinating its superheroes, most likely in preparation for an eventual "Avengers" movie. That means Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury will make a cameo appearance in May 2's "Iron Man," and ol' metalhead himself will drop into "Hulk." Little has been said about the scene — until now.

"I don't know how it'll work," Hurt admitted, saying it was a thrill to appear as General Thaddeus Ross during Downey's scene. "I know it's weird [to work with a character from another movie], and to know it's a device. We did something; I don't know what that's going to be like [to watch]."

Yeah, it's all part of the plan to have an Avengers movie in a few years.

Captain America and Thor films are in the works.

Downey's cameo is not in the Hulk script though. I have the Incredible Hiulk script. It's Ed Norton's first draft.

Everything that was in the trailer is in this script. So even though it says first draft, I expect just a few changes like a line of dialogue here and there.

I heard the scene is Stark running into Ross in a bar, but I don't know if it's true.

If you watch the final Iron Man trailer, you see Stark drinking at the very beginning, but JF said they won't bring his alcoholism into the first movie, but you can tell that they are laying the groundwork for it.

Tombo,

There was a rumor that the guy from Sex and the City, the blonde guy who dates the Kim Cattrell character may play him. He'd need to put on at least thirty pounds though.

As for the other Hulk movie, the Ang Lee/Eric Bana one, well, that one didn't do as well as Universal had hoped. They lost the rights back to Marvel because they were hesitant to greenlight a sequel and their contract for use of the character ran out.

Marvel is now getting into the movie making business. They are making this movie while Universal is only distributing it for them for a percentage. Marvel wanted a reboot. That's why we have a new director and a whole new cast.

Like you, I also liked the Lee/Bana one, but people thought it tried to be too highbrow and didn't have enough action or a good villian. It was also expensive because ILM (The George Lucas fx company) did the special effects.

The fx for this one are done by Rhythm and Hues. IMO, they are not as good. You get what you pay for.

The script is not very good either. If you want a copy of it just let me know. But you'll need Adobe to read it or something else that can handle pdf documents.

Yeah i've read around that Ed Norton is being a whinger about the script, because they allowed him some deeper access into writing and now he thinks he can call the shots etc etc interesting to see how it turns out.

So because you have this "script", you don't believe the people at Marvel or even William Hurt himself?

Would that have made it better?

I think NOT!  :)

Oh, they'll be a scene. The draft I have may have undergone a few changes like a line of dialogue here or there.

As I said in this thread, I heard the scene between Downey and Hurt takes place in a bar. It's a small, quick scene. Obviously, the General knows him because he is the primary contractor to the American military.
