The article starts out by saying that hgh will help you build muscle but it does not improve strength. Can someone explain how more muscle does not translate into added strength?

There is no correlation between muscle size and muscle strength according to studies.

In effect HGH is the bodybuilder's dream: cosmetic muscles with no additional functionality (strength).

HGH doesn't give huge muscle gains, maybe 8-14% muscle gains over a 6 month period. Not worth the $ that people spend. HGH does not significantly help sports performance.
HGH is best used for adults and ill patients who are deficient (legitimate medical purpose)

"Muscle" in this case = just water retention (and increased organ weight). No study has ever shown GH to build real muscle tissue.

i'm no expert, but i believe the role of hgh when used in conjunction with anabolic steriods is that hgh has a synergistic effect and that it greatly increases the effectiveness of the sauce

HGH plus anabolics likely have more of an effect but we don't have great studies. Its probably more the anabolics than anything. Either way, GH is a waste of $ for people trying to become better athletes. Its best use is for its healing properties (in conjunction with a doc...if we can get more studies) and for replacement for aging adults.

Do you think adult GH replacement therapy will extend lifespan on average? I know there are no studies but what's your hunch?

ok, so let me get this straight. You take a 180 pound guy, put him on growth at say 8iu's a day for 6 months and you are telling me he's no stronger at the end of that 6 months? Bullshit.

I don't think it will extend lifespan past the benefits you would get from a good diet + exercise + weight loss...but thats still significant. Its more about quality of life... through improved body composition, less abdominal fat (which decreases cardiovascular risks), mood elevation, supporting mental function, promoting recooperation from injuries and basic wear & tear, holding more water in skin & muscle is good for older people, small increases of organ size & function (organs actually shrink a bit with aging), & small increase in bone mass (battling osteoporosis). When all of this is examined in the context of an older person (ie 50s and beyond), there are significant benefits for those that are deficient.
insulin and anabolic steroids are much more anabolic to the tissues compared to GH. I stand by my opinion that GH is a basically a waste of $ for athletic performance. It causes a small amount of muscle growth but BBing doses maximizing this effect still don't give a bang for the increase in side effects or cost. Bottom line, don't use it for sports.

the real downside to it though is when combined with steroids even in low doses, muscles such as the heart become even more enlarged than just using either substance alone, an enlarged heart muscle is not good as it reduces function, so the hrt where you take a small amount of test and hgh even though will give you a more cosmetic appearance as you age on the outside and helps the body in many different ways but the fact that it does increase the heart muscle in size cannot be ignored, i read about this in a study from Sweden a year back and discontinued straightaway, safer to take low doses of either one on their own the study shows, no doubt they worked better together, but for me just low dose test will do after reading that study.
