Well we all know you are online now, so has anything happened in the last few months that might have you thinking about competing sometime in the future.

Do you think you could bring the conditioning you did when you were younger or do you think it would not be worth what it would take?
-
LOL....no plans at this time.
But it's not out of the question I guess?

Why take the paycut??
Are you saying that working for bodybuilding.com and/or being athlete's rep and competing are mutually exclusive somehow? Can't you do both?

I'm saying it would cost me more than I'd be making....
That said...what would be the goal? I'm already on the Olympia stage every year.

Why not? You know how to put together a great routine and have classical lines and shape, the true fans love that kind of stuff. Are you telling me you don't like being in the spotlight with everyone cheering you on?

Sure...but I also liked scoring touchdowns and being the BMOC...but there comes a time one has to move on
-
but there comes a time one has to move on
So you are saying you are too old and can't hack it anymore? No shame, you had a good physique that was underrated in my opinion.
-

That's a bit different though. I think you're still capable of competing, and competing well.

I believe I am as well....but the ends have to justify the means

Just wait till the mid life crisis kicks in, I have a feeling that could possibly get you back on stage one last time. ;D

But couldn't you still work for bb.com at the shows you don't do? I mean you'd probably just do one or two shows a year, if it doesn't work out then go back to MCing...

It's still a busines, bro....compete twice to make even money at best and qualify for the O in a attempt to make the lower top 12 at best?
DOESN'T MAKE A WHOLE LOT OF SENSE TO ME AT THIS POINT

Healthy outlook. Let's not forget Chick has been in this game a loooooong time. Longer than most if not all active Pros. He's been an American Gladiator, a top 2nd tier competitor and an MC and spokesman. He's done a nice job of remaining pertinent to the business.
One thing though, Chick, you do look "on". Either you are, or you got some awesome PCT that I need to get a hold of.

You honestly don't think after carrying 240+ lbs of solid weight for about 20 years that he would be able to hold decent size training regularly without gear?

Of course I do, but he looks pretty hyooge in some recent vids.
Plus, 20 yrs of hormone assisted training might result in the opposite result once he comes off.
-
Chick, tell "T" to call me. I haven't heard from her in quite some time. :-[

25 years btw his first show, 1981, and last-2006...I'd say his been there and done that.
-
I just got a text from Musclephone and Chick will be on stage at this years Mr Olympia.

Look, I am don't speak for Bob Chic and know him only as fan like most on here at Get Big.
But I do know the guy did his first show at age 15 and took 13 tough years as an NPC bodybuilder to win his pro card and the USA. He qualified for the O and went out a winner at the masters pro worlds.
Bob seems to be pretty happy and well balanced at this pt in his life with nothing left to prove as a bodybuilder.
Even if he still has the stuff to still don the trunks, what would he do it for at his pt?
If I or some other Joe Blow gets back up on stage at a Mr masters Podunk, it is for personal reasons, nothing more.
It is different for a pro I suspect.
I am glad we have guy like Bob doing pro BB weekly and staying active in the sport from other avenues.

Actually...my first show was in 1979 at 13!
MAN, I'm getting old..!!
-
Howie, don't you have papers to grade or maybe you should be spending some time in finding that pics of Branch's shredded back. ::)
-
Wow, Bob...really? 13? I thought the first was the UTICA show for you... I was in that teen class with you....
I started in 1980.
And Howie...I agree...I have competed last time 4 yrs ago at 40 for personal reasons...to overcome severe injuries.
There'd be next to no good reason for Bob to bother with competing ever again.
-

When you have to pose wearing a Depends under garment, that is when you are too old Bob.
I swear to GOD, last yr I saw a guy almost 80 pose wearing one on stage at an NPC show :o
You have a few good years left in ya big guy ;)
-
epic attempt to join in with the pro's ::)
Alot of the smaller pros struggle to hit the "19" inch arm mark , you must be very proud ;D

LOL...nah bro...I already had 5-6 shows under my belt by the time Utica came around....a seasoned veteren!

Well I remember clearly that I looked okay at 17, but you at 15 looked 2 years older than me in development!

We're all the same age. First show in 1980 at 15yrs old. Them was the old musclerbuilder mag days

Chick, when you were a cop, did you ever beat a handcuffed suspect?
-

I heard he did but she was over 18. ;D
-
Chick, when you were a cop, did you ever beat a handcuffed suspect?
Do tell, Chickerdildo. ;D
-
I'm serious here. i've watched a lot of cop shows, and all the good cops 'tune up' a suspect every now and then to get to the bottom of a tough case or avenge a fallen comrade.
The cops who refused to strike a deserving suspect were usually IA rats.

All of the cement kept coming out of the plastic covered weights.... :'(

...and some of you wonder why get big quickly sends away more pros than a free buffet at Firehouse.
-

No...I always beat them BEFORE cuffing them.
-

Fire house has some good eats. 8)

No offense howard, but most pros/ schmoes/ fans/ judges/ anyone would rather hear Bob's witty response to a question about beating suspects, than they would like to read another 17 daily threads about your take on why drugs should be banned from the sport.
No offense or anything, but people prefer to read interesting things. Tonight we learned that Bob was a cop with a little dirt on his hands, Lee Thompson will never be mistaken for Flex Lewis, and that you feel steroids are bad. Which two pieces of info do you think most people will retain tomorrow?
-
BOB what does your training look like nowadays?
split....sets/reps....exercises?
thanks
