Thanks Jedi. All went well with the surgery and I am home and resting. I'll know the results some time next week. I have an annoying cough and tired, but all in all feeling pretty good. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. They are greatly appreciated!

Hi Benz, I had a biopsy done on my lungs for suspected Sarcoidosis. I got my results. It came back positive. Unfortunately it has also moved into my heart as well (Sarcoidosis Cardiomyopathy). Although Sarcoid is controlable in the lungs, it is a bit more difficult when also in the heart. There's a 5 year mortality rate is 50-60% of those diagnosed. They have put me on some medications which I must admit are making me very cranky and probably not very fun to live with. :-\ But I certainly plan on hanging around longer than 5 years. ;)
I'm going for a follow-up with my doctor this morning.
-
I hope you get some better news today Laura. :-\
Has your doctor mentioned the Marshall Protocol? Might be something to look into. I believe it was developed for Sarcoidosis.

That's "odd." Usually, doctors are late, yes. But if you walk in with your own magazine, book, or are texting/using your cell for some reason, they'll expedite you right away. It's like there is an unwritten code that you're not allowed to enjoy yourself or occupy your time in a way the nurses disapprove of.
Hope all goes well, and without any sexual undertones, I'm pulling for you Laura!!! :)

Well, good news! He thinks I can beat it! I'm on a pretty high dose of prednazone and he thinks 6 months of the prednazone therapy (3 months high, then taper a little for 3 months, then taper off) along with the fact that I never smoked and have healthy lifestyle, I should be able return to a normal life. We will know better in about 6 months. He also said I can return back to the gym, but I need to start off slowly and monitor my heart while working out.
WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! :D

Great News!!!!!

Thanks everyone for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers! I have been feeling really good lately. Hopefully the meds do their job and get rid of it.
CQ? Where have you been? I hope all has been well with you. :)

Glad to hear you can be treated. If I remember correctly, I originally posted that sometimes cardiac arrhythmias are not serious, and that I have a friend who had an episode of atrial fibrillation that did not require treatment and I was hoping you'd be in the same category. I guess not, but it sounds like you are making progress.

Thanks parsnip. Yes, hopefully this will take care of it all. I am still on a beta-blocker and low dosage asprin as well as the prednisone. Man, I hate pills. :P

Are you allowed to workout yet? Or you just chilling and waiting for the Doctors (not Dr. Kook!) OK?
-
You're welcome. I am also on a beta blocker for high blood pressure, but it doesn't really have any bad side effects other than to lower my heart rate a little so it's harder to do cardio.

Beta blockers should not make it any more difficult to do cardio. It's just your heart rate will not go beyond a certain number (ex. 130) so you can't go by heart rate (220-age x %). You need to go by perceived level of exertion.

I agree, and I didn't quite say it right. Because my heart rate won't go above about 150 and doesn't feel good over 135, I am running slower, but it's not actually harder to jog a given distance, it just takes longer.

Thank you Jetcity! It means a lot. :)
Youngblood, I am back to the gym. Got the ok from the doctor! :D Taking it slow though.
Parsnip, I know what you mean about the cardio. It's the same for me. I'm doing the treadmill and have gotten to a level & speed that should have my heart rate up a bit, but I haven't been able to move it over the high 80's, lol. But believe me, I'm not complaining after having a rate of 180 bpm during my a-fibs. Im on Coreg. What are you on?

I'm on Toprol XL, 100 mg a day, and I am very comfortable exercising in the 100-120 range; can keep it up for an hour. 120-135 is a bit of a strain, and 135-150 is really hard. I hope your numbers come up as you recover. Good luck to ya.

Thanks Parsnip! I hope so too! :)
