Title: Cipro
Post by: Rimbaud on March 26, 2008, 06:00:06 PM
Now I know Cipro isn't an AAS (but I don't know where else to put this thread). Anyway, I've been on it for the past ten days & it's seriously fucking me up. I'm getting some serious sides:
-severe joint pain (couldn't work out for six days but it's a little better now)
-minor hallucinations
-weird dreams
-lightheadedness
-mood swings

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Just a bit of stomach discomfort.  If you are sick like flu like or whatever would not those be some of the symptoms you listed?

No experience with Cipro but sounds like some magic mushrooms I had once  :-\

I read that it is for infections which I just got a bout of cellulitis(staff infection) in my leg.

From your experience, glad I did not get that scripted to me! YIKES!!  :'(

Good luck bro!!!!

Well, from what I read after you posted this, should have been something like Cipro.

I am between insurance so took the Antibiotics I had left from when I was sick. Started to get better so did not feel the need to go to the doc, luckily...

I've only had it prescribed as a precaution when traveling to a 3rd world country.  I never took it or needed it.  I hope you've contacted your Dr. even though they are known side effects, they're not necessarily something you should put up with.  Maybe he/she could prescribe something else.

What country?

I talked to him but he asked if I could tough it out until Friday.

Haiti once and the Dominican Republic twice.

Are you trying to treat a parasite?

It's an antibiotic.

What I said to you was more based on your age & lack of experience (Note: I'm not fucking with you here or making fun of you - I hope you can actually see that).

You need to get ahold of your doctor ASAP.  Ciprofloxacin is a flouroquinalone antibiotic. These antibiotics are metabolized by the liver, which can result in production of byproducts that have hallucinogenic properties.  Baytril is probably the best known of the first and second generation flouroquinalones with this problem.  It was originally developed for humans, but that was stopped when it was realized that people have hallucinations on it.  As a result it ended up in the veterinary market.  I swear I've seen cats, a dog, and two birds that were tripping after getting oral Baytril.  The thing is Baytril is metabolized to ciprofloxacin by the liver.   I worked with a veterinarian who knew this, and was on cipro for a bladder infection.  She forgot her antibiotics, so took a single baytril tablet.  She had to leave work because she was all fucked up.

Also, Cipro has been associated with achilles tendon ruptures and with cartilagenous degeneration in juvenile animals.  So if you are feeling joint pain tell your doctor.

Well, last pill was taken this morning. Joint pain is just about gone & the infection seems to have cleared up. Let's hope my sleep normalizes soon.
