While it is true that the tallest structures are outside the United States, all the attractive ones are in the US.  That Mori tower is butt ugly.

The US has BORING building straight up and down.  No lines, no character.  I forgot the name of the building but when I was in Hong Kong they had this building that was all glass.  It was supposed to have more glass than any other builoding in the world.  I think it was the Hong Kong Bank.  The escalators  inside were all glass.  But the US just has really boring buildings.

That is called a "hyperboloid structure".  Here is one from 1911 in the Ukraine.

I have to say I am with you.  I much prefer understated architecture.  Therefore my apprecitation of the International Style.

I like Calatrava, but I wish the forms of his buildings were more functional.

the official video sucked. this one at least lets you see what the car looks like.  Think it's what they call a 4-door "coupe"... My mom drives one made by daimler-benz, and it's a pretty nice car, but a little too big and girly (in terms of its look) for my liking though.  This one seems like it would be a gas guzzler too.
