Cung Le TKO in fourth,  Frank couldn't start the round.  Good fight.  So much for Tito and Frank having that big payday.

I could tell Franks arm was hurtin when he went like 2 minutes without using his right at all, then he threw it and rocked Cung.  I hate seeing fights end like that, I think Cung should fight the winner of Lawler/Smith while Shammy's arm heals up.(I know Lawler is the Elitexc champ and Cung is the Strikeforce champ, but that is the fight to see right there)  It was a damn good fight though.

Frank's ego did him in.  He fought to prove a point.  Le fought to win the fight. Good for Cung.

Rumor has it that this fight may have been "worked" to hype up a rematch.  Plenty of fighters have fought through broken wrists before, notably Randy Couture. Once the adrenalin is in full flow it acts as a painkiller. Frank had a couple of opportunities to keep Le down after  takedowns but ended up backing out to bring the fight back to standing. It looked more like a sparring match.

I'm convinced that Frank has an issue with his knees that make him fearful of shooting in for the takedown. How else can you explain why he would not even make an attempt on Cung when the ground game is where Frank held the clear advantage? Frank is too smart for that strategy...he has a huge ego but he knew how tough Cung is on his feet. They used to train together. Frank said himself before the fight that he hadn't taken anyone down since '97 against some dude whose name I believe was Igor. When your submissions game is as good as Frank's and you never take anyone down unless they drag you there, something is wrong.

I don't believe the fight was a "work". Show Cung some respect. He kicked the shit out of Frank for three rounds, and Cung's side kicks have tremendous power. Frank almost knocked Cung out at one point too, so if if Frank was taking a dive he came pretty close to blowing it.

I had similar thoughts. Frank really made zero effort to take the fight to the ground where he has been most successful throughout his career. Cung has never proven himself on the mat and Shamrock just "happened" not to test his mettle? I agree that this sets up a rematch that could be a nice PPV attraction and pocket both guys a few million.

Frank has not attempted a takedown since '97, bro. The fight was not a work.

As you said previously, not having an ACL prolly had something to do with it.

same as his bro, both have outstanding submission records yet they both wanna stand and bang where they aren't as effective
