Kimbo Slice is set to headline EliteXC's first event in conjunction with CBS. The event will air on May 31 and will be featured on a prime time slot.
Gary Shaw recently revealed that Kimbo's opponent has been decided upon but won't revealed until tonight's EliteXC/Strikeforce show.
Sources say it is almost certain Kimbo's next fight will be against Ron Waterman, but it's not, it's Glassjaw Thompson *Yawn*
If this is true, it is a definitive step up in competition for Kimbo, and finally an opponent whose one dimension isn't striking. If Waterman gets him to the ground, we all know how much he loves that keylock, but we also know how shitty Ron's stand up is. This is would be an ideal third fight for Kimbo. (not counting his exhibition fight) Unfortunately we won't get to see this fight, instead we get to see Thompson run across the cage into a right uppercut and get knocked out in under a minute.

Word is that he might be fighting James " glass jaw" Thompson.. http://mmajunkie.com/news/4040/kimbo-vs-james-thompson-at-may-31-elitexc-cbs.mma
Either way I can't find any definite confirmation for either of them. If he does fight Thompson expect a quick KO. Personally I'd rather see Kimbo fight Bigfoot Silva or Buzz Berry than either of them, but what can you do>?

I wish he would acknowledge Paul Buentello's challenge, or like you said Berry might do as well. It would be pretty dumb for Elite to give Kimbo a guy a that just lost brutally to another undefeated newcomer such a short time ago, just as it would be dumb for Elite to feed Ken Shamrock to Kimbo.

I don't think Kimbo is ready for the head hunter.

I know he is not, that's why I want to see them fight. ;)

don't hate the great, mate. ;)

If Elite XC is smart, they'd keep matching Kimbo up against one dimensional fighters. Waterman is perfect, as would Thompson. He isn't ready for a top tier heavyweight. I'd milk it until Bas says he is ready for a top fight. Throw Ken in there for good measure, as well as Don Frye.

Alright it's confirmed Kimbo is fighting Thompson May 31 on CBS. Bummer. http://mmamania.com/2008/04/02/kimbo-slice-vs-james-thompson-cbs-saturday-night-fights-main-event-booked/

The only thing is if Kimbo doesn't work fast he could suffer a KO himself. Thompson has a suspect chin but he is a fairly competent striker.

Thompson is just inconsistant, theres no half measures with the guy to the point of when he wins he wins big but when he loses he gets knocked the fuck out bigtime.
