Title: Musclephone? Will it make a lot of money?
Post by: Melvin Goodrum on March 31, 2008, 11:50:32 AM
I was wondering why Issac started this "free" service for and I knew good and well that it wasn't out of the goodness of his heart.

Well folks, I decided to examine it and apparantly Issac is actually going to make a lot of money from this and hears why.  Below is the Terms and Conditions of using the Musclephone service and I have highlighted the area of concern:

By texting in, you are subscribing to a text alert subscription. Standard text messaging fees and other charges may apply. You may stop this service at any time by sending a text message with the word STOP, END, or QUIT to 64274. Your phone must have text messaging capabilities. You must be the owner of this device and either be at least sixteen years old or have the permission of your parent or guardian. The service is currently only available in the United States. We value your privacy and will not share your information outside the Muscle Phone Network.

Now this highlighted may not mean much until you read about "The Muscle Phone Network.

THE MUSCLE PHONE NETWORK: We're currently building the Muscle Phone Network to include the industry's best media outlets and businesses. If you're interested in becoming part of the Muscle Phone Network and how you can benefit email us for more information.

Essentially Issac now has a list of the numbers of people interested in health and fitness and is in a great position to sell targeting advertising to health and fitness companies who agree to sign on to the "Muscle Phone Network".

Eventually, you'll receive the gossip and news..... ::)  But you'll also be receiving advertisements from those on the Muscle Phone Network

One more thing, Sprayflex is a member of the Muscle Phone Network........hope you enjoy those ads ;D

Great job Issac, I didn't think you could sink so low.  Selling text message advertising to companies.  How pathetic...... :D

My phone rang in the middle of the night with a Spray Flex ad. woke me up...had to take a wicked piss, so i ran to the bathroom shortly after discarding the ad. I felt relieved. Had Musclephone not woken me up, my bladder may have burst in my sleep.  :-\  :o

THANKS MUSCLEPHONE!

Its going to get worse.  Issac has just about everyone's phone number and can sell the information to the highest bidder.

And he's not even spending any money.  There is a new piece of software out for 49.95 that allows him to send out SMS text messages over an internet connection.  He pays nothing!!!

Ok Jerryme, I'm not sure if you're being sacastic or not but just to make sure.  Take a note of this.

Issac has just 10 companies in the Musclephone Network.....
Those 10 companies send 2 messages to your phone a day offering discounts and coupons

That equals to about 600 text messages a month which means you better have an unlimited text plan or expect to pay $60.00 a month.

You get it now????

Amazing, but get real.  Musclephone was created to give people the latest news on various subjects, maybe one a day, or one every other day, or so on. To get the results very quickly, even if you are not at home.

You are not going to get 600 messages a month. Come on.

Musclephone is a cool way to get information. You don't like it, you don't sign up.

But if you think people are selling your name, you are dead wrong. Even myself here, with thousands of emails and numbers, won't do that.

Isaac has a lot of respect and integrity, and loves to promote the sport of bodybuilding.  Instead of trying to help push a positive trends on new ideas, and new creative ways, you don't.  And no, it isnt about making a lot of money at all.

Hell - if someone gave you some free samples, you would create a conspiracy from it. Jeez

Nice try Vince but your efforts will be as productive as your contest history. No one is getting spammed. It's a free country if anyone who has signed up doesn't like the service, the site also shows how they can opt out at any time.

MattC - the thread about my transformation didn't get deleted it was moved to another board. I have no problem showing that I was once a fat ass and competed twice. What's the big deal?

Carry on and if you haven't signed up you can do so at www.MusclePhone.com (http://www.MusclePhone.com).

exactly, Isaac has every right to start whatever type of venture he wants, it's a free country, if you don't like it don't sign up for the damn thing but don't fault a guy for hustling and trying to make a few bucks.

Exactly, we all need to be more supportive and positive and think of ways we can help Isaac and Musclephone, instead of constantly bashing the man for no reason.

Isaac is a very smart businessman and most of you are just jealous that he thought of this idea and not you.

None of us could pull off Musclephone without the business acumen and industry contacts of Isaac.

Besides, how would anyone other than a Muscletech/AMI/Weider insider get the news that Jay Cutler has won the 2008 Mr. Olympia six months BEFORE the show? SpecialEdPhone.com would actually need to wait until AFTER the results were announced to send that information to your phone.

Thanks to getting in on the ground floor and investing heavily in the Musclephone IPO, I can rest easy knowing my children's education will be paid for.

Thanks Musclephone!

Ron, I know you are partners with Issacs in the venture but the writing is very clear as to what Muscle Phone is all about. Yes, its a free country, however people should know exactly what they are going to get.

The fact is that the "Terms and Conditions" and the information of the "Muscle Phone Network" means that advertisers will have access to the Muscle Phone subscribers.

Now, if Issac can garrantee that no text message subscriber is going to receive any advertisements from supplement companies then I'll be the first to apologize ,however, I'm obviously not going to have to do it.....ISN'T THAT RIGHT ISSAC???!!!

BTW, very convenient that the title of my thread was changed.

Why would I sabotage myself by sending out things I wouldn't want to receive myself? Easy - I wouldn't. One thing I can GUARANTEE - no one will receive anything about your magic stick or bee pollen.  :-*

So let me get this straight, no text message subscriber will receive advertisements from supplement companies including in the "latest results" or whatever the shit you're sending out???

Is that so, Issac, you're sending out the latest information without any return compensation to you.....is that what I'm hearing????

I am in no way partners with Isaac in that venture. I think it is a good idea, and will help him out, but I have nothing to gain.  There will be no advertisements from companies, that isnt what text messaging is for. There will be a 'Brought to you by Muscletech or so' which is fine with me. The title of the thread was changed because I dont like caps in threads, and it is an attack instead of a discussion.

Placing banners on a message board, Ron, is your right and people who come here know and expect the ads to be there.  There's nothing hidden about that.

Issac on the other hand failed to mention or acknowledge the additional the there would be advertisements in the text messages or that it was possible that they may receive separate ads from the companies.

People have a right to know what they are actually getting especially when it comes to text message advertising.

One more thing, I would have been more polite about it but I didn't have any option after Special Ed's post about the same thing was deleted and moved immediately.

Simply put, Issac needs to put that information on his website as a lot of people really frown on text message advertisements.

Regardless of what you say Ron, in a court of law, its selling text message advertising to supplement companies without their knowledge

Ok, here's the very first post I made in this thread again:

Roll Eyes  But you'll also be receiving advertisements from those on the Muscle Phone Network

One more thing, Sprayflex is a member of the Muscle Phone Network........hope you enjoy those ads Grin

Great job Issac, I didn't think you could sink so low.  Selling text message advertising to companies.  How pathetic...... Cheesy

Other than your edits, Ron, its pretty clear as to what I said.

Oh and by the way Issac, if you decide to sue you'll have to do it without the "so called evidence of this thread".

Since Ron has edited the title of my thread, its considered altered information and cannot be admitted in any civil court case......

Whoops, I guess you'll have to find another bloody glove or sock..... ;D

Ron in all fairness the 2nd statement you chose is a bit selective isnt it ?

heres what he actually said :

Issac on the other hand failed to mention or acknowledge the additional the there would be advertisements in the text messages or that it was possible that they may receive separate ads from the companies

The 1st half of his statement above says he thinks Isaac sold ad space on his text service (which im starting to believe, which isnt a bad thiNG or wrong)

while the 2nd half above states the he thinks maayyyybe that its possible otherwise that ppl may recieve seperate ads - hes not sure about this...this isnt his sole argument, he`s assuming ,not claiming

so whats up  WILL THERE OR WONT THERE BE ADS ON THE TEXT SERVICE ATTACHED TO THE NEWS AND GOSSIP???

Title: Re: Musclephone? Will it make a lot of money?

Selling sponsored content is very different than selling numbers. Someone's number will never be given to anyone, which Vince is saying is/will take place. Simply not true. Could there be discounts to muscle phone subscribers for magazines, store purchases, supplements and other things? Yes, it is possible however the numbers have not nor will they ever be given out to anyone.

No one is forcing anyone to sign up for this. If you don't like it don't sign up. If you sign up and don't like it opt out. Hundreds of people have signed up and the number of people who have opted out are lower than Vince's IQ. This tells me people like the service and the only complaint I get is why isn't there more news being sent out.

It's entirely possible that Lift has agreed to include 'this message brought to you by x-powder company' in text messages sent out by his service WITHOUT having given anyone's information to the company itself.

When a television advertiser pays to support a network broadcast into millions of homes, they don't get the personal information of every viewer who watches a particular show.  This is the same concept.

That said, I do not know how Lift is financing or generating revenue with his Musclephone service, but I DO know that he is not going to lie about something like that when his professional reputation is on the line.  He might sugarcoat things from time-to-time when protecting certain individuals, but when it comes to his business, he's as straight as they come.  Musclephone might be very gay  ;D, but Lift is a straight-shooter.
Title: Musclephone Files Chapter 11!
Post by: Special Ed on March 31, 2008, 07:27:34 PM
Apparently all the negative press has taken its toll, as Musclephone was forced by its creditors to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection today. After Melvin Goodrum broke news about the sinister plot to profit from people's personal information, Musclephone stock slid down and the cancellations started rolling in. By day's end, Musclephone was in such poor financial condition that its owners were considering selling off the remaining assets for a Dave & Buster's $10 Card. It's a sad day in bodybuilding when a Schmoe can't make a living doing what he loves.

RIP Musclephone!

Treasury Dept just rescued them!  Holla!

No, actually the Fed is guaranteeing Musclephone's debt, and has brokered a deal for JP Morgan Chase to buy them out at $2 a share!  (personally, I think Isaac should hold out for $10. ;))

Attached to the breaking news, as it always has, it will say brought to you by whomever.  But attached ads - no.  Brought to you, yes.  You only have 160 characters per text message. And so far, it is a fun item to get, especially for breaking news out there...

"This just in...  Phil Heath took his second dump of the day.  Brought to you by Muscletech Cell-Tech...  2,678.5% more anabolic than bee pollen!"

Thanks, Musclephone!  :D

But if you think people are selling your name, you are dead wrong. Even myself here, with thousands of emails and numbers, won't do that.

Now I can cross off Getbig being responsible for all those spam emails for penis enlargement!

Who knows what Goodrum has found on his journeys in the gay internet?

Once again, you have not answered these accusations. This is what I care about. Don't give me a whole garb of wishywash. You said these statements.

Lord... you have no idea.... coming from someone that has been involved in a few legal cases, including one of the biggest ephedra cases regarding AST and more...

Ron, go to law school one day.  This isn't a case about ephedra as there are thousands of paper documents over the course of 15 years.... ::)

The only so called evidence is this thread and it would be easily thrown out because you were proactive in editing my words.  That leaves Issac without anything....

Issac's been busted.....he needs to get back to creating web sites instead of trying to skim some money off supplement companies with selling text message advertising.

BTW, if Issac is such a stand up guy, why did he screw with Kamali's website for???

I'm still trying to figure out Goodrum's offering of 'legal services' on his website...as it links to a real-estate company in Montana.
