Title: Olive Oil
Post by: CC973 on April 02, 2008, 02:17:31 PM
Over the last few months i've been getting into doing a stir fry for dinner.  I use some chicken breast, cup of rice, mixed veggies and olive oil.  I was wondering if the olive oil is ok to use everyday or should I be using a different kind of oil also?  I'm not on a strict diet or anything i've just been trying to eat healthy.

There's a lot of worse oils you could be using. I use olive oil almost everyday.

you're probably better off waiting until the chicken, rice and veggies are cooked and then putting the olive oil on top, just use Pam to coat the pan.

Good call but I still prefer to cook with it olive oil or coconut oil. I usually add a tablespoon to my rice & chicken/salmon that I eat at work for lunch/dinner.

yeah thats good advice from squadfather. you dont want to cook with any unsaturated fats like olive oil.

a simple rule that udo erasmus says..   "the better a fat is for you, the worse it becomes for you when you cook it. "

Stir fry is usually done over extremely high heat, so cooks favor high smoke point oils like peanut oil.  If you don't overheat an oil I don't think it would become unhealthy.  Olive oil is a poor choice for super high heat cooking tho.

That may be true.  I'm just speculating.  We have to remember that Udo is in the business of selling eat-it-cold oil tho, and that olive oil has been consumed for centuries both cold and as a staple cooking oil.

There may be something to what he says, but I haven't got the time to research it.

yweah paumbo says some thing to that extent about udo's preference of flax over fish oil....

maybe im niave, but i tend to believe what udo says and dont think he is lying about anything...he seems to already have enough money and really does just want to make the best oil possible..

A buddy of mine who used to compete, during pre contest would add 14 TABLESPOONS of olive oil to his daily protein shakes. He would get so ripped

yeah but your carbs would have to literally be at ZERO to get ripped on that much fat of any kind, i know Olive Oil is good fat but 14 tablespoons is a shitload of extra calories.

This guy was in "pre-contest mode" so maybe the olive oil wasn't the only factor involved...

That's rediculous, 1 tablespoon equals about 120 cals.Multiply this by 14 and he would take in 1680 calories from fat alone....IN ONE SHAKE???Either he was on a keto diet with alot of cardio and heavy dose of fatburners (ECA,T3 etc.), or i claim bullshit.Or maybe it was a teaspoon?

Peace
