Title: Who trains traps directly here ?
Post by: Stavios on April 08, 2008, 07:59:51 AM
I noticed that Deadlifts or 1/2 deadlifts are better for traps development than any shrugs or up-right rows movements

what do you guys think ?

traps can never be too big.

don't know about that !
I think thats the only muscle someone need to keep in check because it they are too big and your shoulder development isn't great, it makes you look very narrow

but big traps are what makes a physique look powerfull IMO

hahahahhahaa, it always makes me laugh when some little fagggot says that a certain muscle is "too big", if a muscle group looks bigger than the muscles surrounding it that means those groups need to catch up and get bigger not the other way around.

very true tho, I hate people who tries to "downsize" their legs because their upper-body is too small

legs can never be too big, look at tom plats he looked incredible even if his upper-body was lagging behind the incredible legs

uh, you do know that upright rows target the delts, right?  Traps are only the stabilizers.

LOL!

ok then................what body part can be "too big" ?!?!?? Chest,Biceps?,Triceps,Back?,Legs,Hams?,Shoulders?

it depends on a persons symmetry (trying to get all body parts "even" to "match")
on there own truly and in symmetry with all the other body parts NO body part can ever be too big!

When I was about 18-19 my wife (then girlfriend) tricked me into drinking a big sip of Vlasic pickle juice she poured into a plastic cup.....I'll never forget that.....horrible.

Like I said, traps can be too big is you have narrow shoulders to begin with and not a super huge shoulder development

it makes a narrow/stocky look and I think it looks bad

but thats about the only muscle

I don't know about trap training, but pouring some ice cold pickle juice into your ear when you have an ear ache works wonders.

ok............fair enough!................ill give you that!

but.................some times having one body part "overdeveloped" IE: having a "freaky body part
is a good thing/think Mike Matarazzos arms,Tom PLatzs Quads,DEmayo Quads ..........etc  etc

I hit upright rows and dumbell shrugs when I'm training my rear delts.  The traps also get worked in all my other back movements.

(http://www.usedgymequipment.com/hammer/shrug.jpg)--my favorite for shrugs! I do it standing up and fill each side with 45's.
The position of the grip hits my traps more diectly than barbell shrugs.

front delts can be too big.

see lee priest.

although i do agree with squadfather...your better off making the other parts bigger, than making the big part smaller.

but im not sure lee could make his chest any bigger, so in order to create the illusion of a bigger chest he would have to back of the presses and do more laterals.

When did Lee stop doing presses? He's done them in every one of his training videos... his last one I think he was doing 3 plates on the smith like a week out from the show.

I don't think Lee's ever come in off, and he's the one who gets in the worst shape in the offseason. Did you know when they made the Hulk movie they used Lee for the running, jumping etc... I thought that was pretty cool.
