;D From the reagan diaries.
"A moment I've been dreading. George brought his n'er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work."

LOL! Reagan was a good judge of character. ;D

Hahaha. Awesome. What a great fuckin country we live in when that dude can be president for 8 years.
And now the Republicans have picked another n'er-do-well kid to run for President. Yay!

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Reagan was the man.

Wow...interesting.
Calmus, please don't compare Bush jr to McCain. We all know you have a hard on for anything republican but you must admit the differences between the two, at least personally. Bush jr had a lot handed to him by his father.
-
I have a hard on for everything Republican? I suppose that's one way to rationalize how McCain got into the Naval Academy.
Just for the record, when I applied to my dad's alma mater, I did not fill the "did you have any relatives who attended _________?" part of the application.
Legacies are undemocratic. MCCAIN AND BUSH both took advantage, and Bush probably outperformed McCain when he was at school

Do you honestly think "favors" only extend to family relationships? So his grandfather and father helped him get into the Naval Academy. So what? He still had to get through the Academy and Naval Flight School.
At least McCain wore the uniform (unlike Bush or Cheney) and that counts for something to a lot of military veterans (like myself).
-
mccain was 894th out of 899 students in the Naval Academy.

I don't get what point you're trying to make.
So his grandfather and father helped him get into the Naval Academy. So what? He still had to get through the Academy and Naval Flight School.
Hahaha. Is his performance what you call "getting through"? He should never have been allowed near a plane with his shining record.
At least McCain wore the uniform (unlike Bush or Cheney) and that counts for something to a lot of military veterans (like myself).
Counts for what? Wearing the uniform suddenly makes you smarter or a better person? I don't buy the whole "wore the uniform" line of thinking. I know that there are those who do.
To me it would be the equivalent of voting for someone just "because they're a New Yorker"

What does it mean to military veterans when someone who wears the uniforms trades secrets and/or collaborates with the enemy in exchange for preferential treatment? If wearing the uniform means something, ...I would think collaborating with the enemy must also hold some meaning too? ...no? What does that mean for you?
-

I can't vote for that.

Are you accusing McCain of treason, Judi? Do you have rock solid indisputable proof of his treason?
Unless you do I think you need to keep your opinion to yourself.
-

I'll vote for a man that served his country and wore the uniform over those that did not. It may not be important to civilians but it's important to me.
To answer Calmus's answer, no - wearing a military uniform does not make him a better leader or smarter. What it does do is show me, IMHO and experience, is that he probably has a better understanding of words like sacrifice, honor, discipline, and integrity. Like I said, this is all based on my military experience.
At the risk of sounding condescending I don't expect most civilians to understand.
-
bush err mccain had a lot handed to him by his wife.
NT
So?
Obama's wife makes a lot of money and until his book deals she was the bread winner.
And we all know that Hillary is absolutely nothing without Bill.
-

Hilary isn't senator without being first lady...
but...
she would have continued to be a well-paid, well-connected lawyer, lobbyist, etc.
she's a smart woman. I remember when they released something she wrote to someone at age 14... the writing was incredibly brilliant... beyond what you see in most college papers. Smart + Driven = success.

Are you sure SHE wrote it?
There seems to be a lot of things she claims she's been involved in only to have the truth come out proving otherwise.

I don't have to accuse the man of anything. I wouldn't expect you to take my word for it even if I were to.
For something as serious as that, I'd prefer to defer to the man himself, ...let you take his word on the matter.
His May 14, 1973 interview might be a good place to start.

Now, rather than advise me to keep opinions to myself, why don't you answer my original questions?

Treason is treason. If the traitor was a military veteran it just makes the stain of dishonor even bigger and the shame greater.
But what makes a military veteran even more upset is when someone accuses a decorated war hero, like McCain, of treason and cites nothing more than an inflammatory article. Especially one that leads off with, "Once upon a time there was a country named America which was founded on repressing and murdering its original inhabitants and on the ideas of equality and freedom from injustice." Yay America bashing. ::)
I also noticed you didn't provide a hyperlink to the source article, Judi. Why is that? What credible and respected newspaper printed that article about McCain? Who wrote the article?
While I may not be crazy about McCain he still has my respect. The fact that he wore a military uniform, fought for his country, and was a POW who was tortured and stayed with his fellow POWs (even though he was given the chance to leave because of who his father was) says a lot about the man's honor, integrity, and loyalty to his men and country.
I think you're going to have to do a lot better than citing an inflammatory article with an obvious anti-American tone.

without his wife's beer money, bush errr mccain never makes it to capital hill.
that's the difference !
NT
It takes money to make it in politics. No big secret there.

Unfortunately, this is not a real quote from Reagan:

U guys are wrong..I'm pretty sure Judi spent 5 years right next to Mccain and the "journalist" who published this bullshit...yup 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton gaining first hand knowledge of Mccains treason. Gimme a break.

HAHAHAHAH!! War-fag is an idiot.

Good responces w8tlftr, your arguing with a couple here that are very left wing and its tough to get them to even see a near moderate point of view.
McCain has been through a hell of a lot more than Obama & Hillary and has my respect. I respect all of them actually but Hillary & McCain are the best qualified to be president IMO. I certainly don't agree with McCain on everything but I don't like the socialist programs proposed by Obama & Hillary. I think Hillary is an extremely intelligent person but she isn't a real likeable person and still wants too much government control & programs. However, I think she'd get us out of Iraq the quickest and may have the best luck in promoting real change in the health care industry.

So, that quote is false? Pathetic....
-
apparently so but maybe the reason people believed it is because, although the quote is false, the sentiment expressed is true
-

Yep.

even so, most of the world sees bush as an epic failure and destroyer of america.........
