Currently there are shows in February, March, May, June, July, August, & September. Why not have the Olympia in May and all other shows the following 4 months? This would make summer bodybuilding season and allow the competitors time to make improvements for the next year. Wouldn't you rather go to Columbus, OH in June or July, instead of early March??

The reasoning probably is that the O is the biggest show of the year so it should close out the "season"/ The IFBB probably looks at it like if the NFL held the super bowl in September.

Yea it is a great idea.
"Point" could be cumulated based on how you placed at smaller shows and THAT would be the way you qualify for the olympia...
Problem is, who wants/can peak so many times...

The Arnold is analogous to the first NASCAR race of the season at Daytona.
The Olympia is the final event of the season.
The Ironman is like a pre-season game.

Cool idea.

Maybe the Auditorium cost more at that time.Remember the IFBB are all about MONEY$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Tre, you could be right but I don't think it was thought out or planned that way.
I think it was simply a matter of promoting shows when and where the promoters had the desire (based on many personal factors) to do so.
If you had one sole promoter promoting all those pro events, it might be preplanned differently.

then they could sell season tickets.

I don't like the idea. You'd lose too much fan interest. Already the dead season is long.
And too little chances for guys to place in the $. You'd have the same guys win 8 shows straight. Would get boring.
Better to have two super bowls. how does golf or tennis (other individual sports) compare? How long are their seasons?
