Let's suppose the young entreneurial, getbig reader decides he'd like to spend the inheritence his grandmother left him, by promoting a bodybuilding show.
How would one go about this? What are the sanction fees?
I'm obviously not asking for myself, but I'm sure there are many people who read getbig who might be interested in such a thing.

Sorry about your grandmother Rob. ;)

I think the sanction fee is $10k?

She's in the thug's mansion now.
I asked last night - I was under the impression it was $50k, having read that last year. Bob told me it's not $50k, but wouldn't give me the actual number. If it's one of those things that varies (IE: some people have to pay and some don't), then let us know. If there's a standard fee, let us know that too. I'm just curious. There are probably a few 1Fast400's out there reading who might promote a show in 2 or 5 or 10 years.

What a great legacy for your grandma if you wasted her money on a bodybuilding show. ::) Might as well just sh*t on her grave directly and cut out the middle man.
Still, the idea of someone from Getbig promoting a bbing show is intriguing. How many posters on Getbig? Maybe if we each contribute $10, we can scrape together enough to pay the IFBB sanction fee and hire a venue. The bodybuilders will get jack-squat in terms of money, but hey, that's called doin' bodybuilding old school. ;D

How about sanctioning a NPC show first for the experience?
me? I'd talk to Chuck Sanow in Illinois. Get his input. Contact Manion for his blessing. I'd study the dates of other contests and look at the entries and see why more compete at which show and why. I'd examine the time of year and get my geographics down.
I'd then find a venue that can hold a decent crowd. I'd hit up about 50 different possible sponsors and vendors and see how much they will be willing to donate to be a sponsor. I'd sit down with some experienced judges and promoters and brain-pick. I'd then put all my money up to pay for it all and set up an account for entry fee's, sponsor fee's etc...
I'd then hype it up 10-12 months in advance and plaster it at every single health food store and gym in a 50 mile radius and on getbig.
Oh...I'd get Phil Heath to guest pose along with Sarah Dunlap and maybe throw in a Chaundra Tanji on the MC while Jenny BEAST passed out trophies.
How's that, Rob?

That is for the mens BB portion. Each things is extra (female BB, Fitness, Figure etc.) I think it was $4,000 each or something like that. Plus you have to fly the judges, put them up in a hotel, per diem) The Olympia was over $100,000 and not sure about the Arnold but I would think it is more than a typical show.

I'd tell him to take the inheritance to the nearest casino and play the slots for six months straight... he'll lose less that way.

Suppose my grandmother was a big Robby Robinson fan?
Good info, TBH!

If she was, then I'd hope that she'd have asked you to use the money for a bodybuilding show in her will. Unless she give you enough to create an endowment to run a bodybuilding show under her name for years and years, it would be a waste of money.
You'd be better off spending her money on steroids and GH and working to become a professional BBer like Robinson, than to spend waste it on a bodybuilding show.

It's not the sanction fee it's all that goes with it.10K for small shows 100k for Olympia and probably a gift to Arnold for the Arnold sanction fee.But with the sanction fee comes some great Fukin Rules if Weider wants to attend the show no matter where it is in the world he gets 1st class tickets paid for two and all expenses plus you have to pay airfare and accommodation for top 5 guys and food for all for 3days.Now that adds up.
