Title: Bush delivers GOOD NEWS on Iraq

The President gave his speech this AM following Patraeus' testimony.  Two noteworthy things...

1) The reconstruction $ is ending.  iraq is paying for it themselves from now on.  Looks like the US economy might just recover, if the current level of borrowing subsides.

2) The surge level troops are coming home by July 31st!  Also good for the economy.  Less reservists being paid to be in iraq means we can borrow less and they can come home and start contributing to the economy here at home.

Troop deployments reduced to 12 months (instead of 15 as well).
Some good things I guess.
What a mess over there.

Did it sound like Petraeus was suggesting we have more discussions with Iran?

Yes.  "Watch what they do in the coming weeks and months" was his Tuesday quote.
