stupid. he reminds me of zone capone. one of these days we're going to see pictures of him in a wheelchair doing dumbbell curls because his left bicep and elbow are the only things on his body he hasn't torn.

What I don't get is why guys with skinny legs consider it impressive to squat 300+ lbs.  I mean, if you can't grow doing 6-8 reps with 300 lbs then you aren't eating or doing the squats right.  I'm not impressed Layne :)

layne loves training, thats for sure. however much think he is a douchebag at times, you have to give him that

its probably not the smartest thing to do, as im sure directing nutrients away from healing your injury and creating free radicals by lifting heavy doesnt help you recover any faster....   BUT, you could also look at it from the view point that he is stimulating growth hormones that will aid in recovery..   since he is "natural" and all..

with his leg size, he'd probably put more mass on by resting.

what a dickbreath he is.

Why does he even bother? Why don't he do some cardio type workout to build his legs instead.

Totally staged photo opportunity.

He could just as easily get on the leg press and not have the whole world stare at him, or have to make a picture to post on all the forums to promote himself and his 'hardcore' image.

That looks like the kind of guy who's far too worried about how everyone see him. Any sane person would just relax for a while and take it easy. Like TrueGrit said, it's like he did it just to "impress" people.

I think it shows he is dedicated.  I think that is why he is stronger and looks better than 90% of the people on this board.  It is called extreme dedication, not always smart, but admirable in my book.

it's only admirable because, currently, the torn pec is his only injury and yes, he looks pretty good. will you still call it admirable if the pattern continues? if he's 30 years old and completely out of competition because he's got four torn muscles and can't lift heavy thanks to wrecked joints, will it be admirable?

I bet after they were done with the photoshoot he decided to never do that again.  I hope for his sake he does.
