Title: Ice for Injuries- Your Tips and throughts
Post by: Guy Grundy on April 19, 2008, 10:50:49 PM
Hey Guy's

I hope everyone is well. I am sitting here Icing my Big toe and I thought while I am sitting here Icing my Toe I would check with my fellow Getbbigers on their thoughts and experieces using ice for injuries?

My personal experimentation has come up with this. The best way I have found is to do 20 minutes on 20 minutes off for a total of 3 times. I use Frozen Corn and have found this to be the best. I have tried a great deal of different products to apply the ice & various time periods using off & on periods with the ice.

Some of you may be wondering why am sitting here Icing my Big Toe at 10.46pm on a Saturday Night. I have turf Toe and it is a very annoying injury because you use your toe quite bit it seems. Anyway your tips and ideas on this subject would be appreciated.

P.S Any tips or ideas on Turf Toe would also be aopreciated!

Whats up Guy

Yeah mate icing is great for injuries. Depends on the injuries, but following RICE(R) is good.
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, Referral.

Just make sure the ice pack is wrapped up in a tea towel or something so it doesnt burn your skin.

I've heard that several times about wrapping the ice......but when I have done that I hardly feel it, I always end up just putting the ice in a baggy and using that instead.

Thanks Mate! Yeah I learn't the buring of the skin with the Ice the HARD WAY when I used this real cold product and I got into whatever I was doing and the next thing I know it is 45 minutes later. I had discoloration and and burnt skins for at least 2 months. It made my calf look SMOOTH. Not a Good Thing when they are already SMOOTH!

Hope all is well for you and 2008 is a big year for you!

Yeah i know what you mean. I wrap it, but just with some light thin material, or even some paper towel.

My Boy Vinnie backed downed from any confrontation with me as he has done with everyone else. He even let Derek Anothny spit on him and did nothing. I think Vinnie likes to talk but that's about it. Sad but True!

Did you jam your toe? Depending on the severity, rest, Ice, elevating it and anti-inflammitories. Thats about it!

I did it 4 years ago. I was doing Muay Thai and through a kick to the body and I cuaght his elbow right on top of the Joint and it has been sore ever since. I use a inner sole specifiucally for Turf Toe and it has worked pretty. Icing seems to be the best though. Thnaks

I was doing Muay Thai which is done in a RING. The UFC uses an Octagon. You have shown your ignorance in regards to MMA. That stands for Mixed Martial Arts. But of course you knew that Mr UFC.

Grundy, you haven't even had one amatuer or professional fight.  You just used me and Ernie Taylor for leverage in getting those modeling contracts.  A buddy of yours at the O told me that.I do have to admit that it was a good idea to get some leverage.

And Derek spitting and then running behind the Muscle Mob for protection is a clear example of Derek being a fucking pussy.

He talked about how he was going to kick my ass and when the moment came, he didn't have the balls to lay a finger on me.

To be honest, I haven't even thought about you Grundy so what is the point anyway???  If I'm incorrect about what your buddy told me, then perhaps you can tell everyone up here WHEN IS YOUR FIRST FIGHT????

Hey Guy;

Coming from a Physical Therapy point of view....Turf Toe--- is usually caused from either jamming the toe, or pushing off repeatedly when running or jumping--over use injury...Ice and elevation with rest being the best treatment, frozen corn-peas work best--molds to anything!  Me being on the very conservative side...maybe check into X-rays to ensure there is no fracture.  We have athletes avoid their sport for about three weeks to allow the joint capsule to heal.  When returning to activities, special inserts can be used to limit the motion of the big toe and prevent further damage to the joint capsule. Also moist heat can be applied prior to your activity...when returning.

Wishing you a speedy recover ! ! !

Nothing wrong with that at all. I don't like you because you BUTT ASS UGLY in every sense, everything about you is UGLY. If I was in the same TOWN as you I would be hanging with  you 24/7 because I would look like like Brad Pitt next to you.

To acheive your level of Ugliness I figure that when you were born the Nurse must have dropped you on the ground a few times and then accidently kept kicking you around the room as she bent down to pick you up. Is this how it happened Vince. Seriously how did you get so Uglly.
