Former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes has spoken out about last weekend's fight between Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra at UFC 83:
"GSP had a good game plan to take Matt Serra down and wear him out. I found myself rooting for Serra at the end of the second round, I wanted him to make it to the third round. I thought if it would get to the third round GSP would decide to stand up with him and possibly knock him out. I just wanted Matt to get beat on for five rounds, not just two; but I knew the ref was about ready to stop it. The UFC said that if Serra loses I get him, but I don’t know when that will be. I’m going to guess six to eight months, so I’ve found myself watching my diet and exercising more.”
The two men were opposing coaches on the previous season of The Ultimate Figher and were supposed to fight at UFC 79: "Nemesis" in December. Serra had to withdraw from the fight because of a back injury sustained during training. Now, GSP's 2 most recent victims have a clear path to go at it once and for all.

GSP whupped his ass so he should just shut up. Can't stand that guy.
Of course Matt will probably destroy Serra. :-\

that fight would be a miss, as part of a big card ok, but lets hope theyre not try to sell it as something major

I can't be bothered that much actually after seeing both guys being pummeled.
GSP showed Hughes how to dismantle Serra. I can see a focussed Hughes doing it.

An older Matt Hughes is not the same athlete as GSP. Young Matt Hughes takes down Serra, puts him against the cage and GNPs him. We know Serra has heavy hands, but Matt definitely has better wrestling.

Only problem is nobody wants to pay to watch GSP kick either one of thier asses again! Someone needs to move up or down...but for gods sake, no more rematches!!!

serra would need to look incredibly impressive against a top guy like kos or sanchez (or someone of that caliber) and while he might have the ground game to pull off an upset,looking impressive or dominant probably is'nt going to happen.....
dana will probably try to market a rubber match with GSP/serra but I don't see much of an interest unless serra can prove he can bring something to the table
