Yes, the question of diuretics starts showing up in the early 70's with some editorials criticizing competitors for coming in too lean and vascular.

By the mid to late 70's, they were a fact of bodybuilding life.

I think the real question is: why didn't Benaziza's death cause a much stricter policy on diuretics and being "too ripped"?

he died overseas, so it doesn't count.

it's like if you take a business trip to Slovakia and spend a night in a hostel with a beautiful american girl, it doesn't count when you come back home to your ball and chain.

Well from the 2 documentaries I saw on Hostels in Slovakia they cut your dick off and feed it to german shepards.

I'm paying $25k for my vacation, so I'm sure mine will end much happier than that. 

Does black and decker make a travel kit?  I hear I might need a drill...
