Most of the time Zane looked a lot smaller than his competitors, but once in a while you'll come across a shot of him looking pretty swole. What was his heaviest weight?

He actually bulked up into the 240-250 range in the middle 60's, but was flummoxed after cutting back down to competitive 180's-190's because for all of it, he only gained several pounds of muscle.
He won his Olympia's in the 187 to low 190's range.
Actually, for his last Olympia at 41, he went on stage at 205 (heaviest ever competitively) and likely lost the title due to the concomitant loss of definition that came along with it.

I think he taught math... and, according to some, was known as the chemist because he was so good with supplements, viatamins and micronutrients.
Zane was sitting in one of those metal pool lounge chairs that have the weaving/ woven nylon strips in it...it collapsed under his weight while he was sunning poolside, and one of the sharp, broken metal rods punctured his urethra. This was two weeks pre-Olympiaa, and he almost bled to death. Came in somewhat underweight for Sydney...but, of course, Arnold urged him not to pull out of the show... :)

My health problems are neurolgic in nature...see attached picture to understand what happens to my limbs when I get injured, such as when recently breaking wrist and shoulder surgeries
And, melanoma has naught to do with my youthful indescretions...have respect for people's health maladies, sf

SF....just going with what I have read. Zane was voted to have the best dev thinghs in a M Builder survey back in the 70's. His thighs were very powerful.

Since ive been clean i cannot keep the weight off without hours of cardio and im fucked if im going to do cardio,if i went to the beach at 270 pounds with a 42 inch waist Greenpeace would mistake me for a beached whale, a lean muscular guy will allways do better with the ladies than a Perma Bulker.

yes, Ronnie has a massive physique here and is the other side of the coin to what makes a great physique.
In my personal view and opinion, he was TOO massive after he got over 260 and lost the overall line and flow to hiis physique.
I admire huge ripped pros, but still prefer the ones with more classic lines.
Zane, Paris, Labrada, Shawn Ray, Flex.
Today we have pros like David Henry, Phil Health , Ronnie Rockell and Dexter holding that banner.

Plus, I am on high narcs now in the hospital...so my posts may be getting a bit sassful.
Since losing health, I have lost 15 pounds of muscle that must have been replaced with 15 pounds of fat ,and I feel like thye worst shit ever.
And, as squad will readily let you know.;..I am not big to start with
I think its great youb are gonna compete again at 50,,,GREAT motivation.
Once I am able...I think I will train for my best at 45....success!!

Those pics of Moosejay show a lot of improvement over just a couple of years. Great job! Is the nurse pretty hot or is that just the demerol talking? I've seen a couple of women that age that I'd consider doable. They usually work out a lot and have great genetics, maybe a nip and tuck there.

Definitely overdieted in those front lawn pics Moose, as you've admitted. I agree that maintaining your aesthetics is paramount however, and not something to sacrifice for mass. I just think you should have drawn the line earlier and stopped dieting for those last points.
Some guys will carry mass well and others won't, and it's up to the individual to fill out the frame to its limit without destroying the physique. That's what Zane managed to do at his best and what he was rewarded for.
It's impossible to build a flowing, proportionate physique like Zane's without both development and genetics, while it is possible to build a massive physique with development (drugs) only. That's why I value the aesthetic physique over the bulldog look. Given my genetics, I should probably change my mind tho.

He taught math and chemistry. His nick name was derived in combination because of teaching and his knowledge of nutrition. This explanation came from Zane himself when The Beef saw him in seminar in 79.

Definitely overdieted in those front lawn pics Moose, as you've admitted. I agree that maintaining your aesthetics is paramount however, and not something to sacrifice for mass. I just think you should have drawn the line earlier and stopped dieting for those last points.
Some guys will carry mass well and others won't, and it's up to the individual to fill out the frame to its limit without destroying the physique. That's what Zane managed to do at his best and what he was rewarded for.
It's impossible to build a flowing, proportionate physique like Zane's without both development and genetics, while it is possible to build a massive physique with development (drugs) only. That's why I value the aesthetic physique over the bulldog look. Given my genetics, I should probably change my mind tho.

The limiting factor was probably drugs. Without them, at some point you're going to shed 2 lbs of muscle for every 1 oz of fat no matter how you eat, sleep, or train. I believe in lean, but not in naturally ripped.
