so i was thinking of recording my workout today, since i do that now and again. well it was pull day, and i was going for a 1RM beltless on a platform.
i get up to 405 (which is about a 5RM if you've ready my journal), and fell victim to the old "treat warmups like max weights" issue, because I wasn't really thinking. i just grabbed the bar and went for it.
well wouldn't ya know it, the weight flies up, and just over my knees, disaster. i tip over forwards, ALL my weight goes on my toes, and my lower back completely collapses.
years of training to avoid saying average curse words when angry or surprised paid off, as suddenly in the middle of the weight room i yell out "BALLSACK!!!!" at the top of my lungs and drop the bar, going over to lay on a bench.
as it turns out, a guy yelling "ballsack" in the middle of the gym is cause for concern. fortunately there were few people there, but i've a feeling that one's gonna haunt me for a while.
now i'm on a recliner with a few 400mg ibuprofen tabs in me fresh out of a blazing hot bathtub. i'm pretty sure it's just a muscle strain but damn it hurts like crazy.

LOL Magoo! I wish you had filmed that one!
I'm really glad you escaped serious injury. But I'm confused on what you hurt, specifically...your lower back or your ballsack? ???

my back. "ballsack" has just become a catch-all exclamation.

Muscle strain in the back should be iced, not heated, no?!? Ice to relieve immediate inflammation!!
You can heat your ballsack if you want... ;)
And see your chiro.

Megadeth will heal your injuries 8)

actually you want a slight bit of inflammation and warmth in an area..i'ts your body's natural reaction.
why do you want it? as soon as something traumatic happens to an area of the body that induces inflammation...all kinds of good shit flood the area to not only cushion it but help start the repair process asap! HEAT opens the area up while ICE cause tissue and vascular constriction making the healing process longer than shorter. It alleviates immediate pain from the pressure buildup in the area but can make the healing process actually take LONGER!
or so studying A/P and nursing have told me.. *Shrug*

Perhaps dead-lifting from a deficit without a belt was not your brightest idea. Of course, I'm no kinesiologist.

I was deading 455 the other day for a few reps, and on the first rep i guess i breathed out real hard and totally snotted all over my shirt.
