it's isn't that bad if you have enough RAM
at first it was terrible, it always froze. thankfully I haven't had any issues for a long time.

yea but they released this in machines that had 2048MB when it needs twice that to utilize the 64bit. So I'm told.

vista 64 works fine with 2gb. If you wanna waste your time with aero then sure, add another 2gb ..

I think that's because you're actually running 32 on Vista. That's what I'm doing. I do some things that the 64 would come in handy with but no point in even setting it up that way with 2.

What about office 07?
I bought it a while ago and only installed it a month or so ago, seems to have a lot of bugs.
Has microsoft gone to the shit?
-
Vista seems ok for me. The only thing is that some programs didn't work on vista, or weren't updated to work on vista, so i had to get the disc of like powerpoint and word and load them up.
I don't know much about computers, so that probably made no sense at all ;D

What's the release cycle of other OS? Mac OS X: Every 1-2 years.
I use Linux (Ubuntu) and that has a release cycle of 6 months.
I actually see the shorter release cycle a BENEFIT.

This is bollocks. It's actually that 32 bit operating systems are limited to a 32 bit address space meaning they are limited to the amount of RAM they can utilize.
You can run an 64 bit OS with any amount of RAM less than (2^64) bits. But to have an address space which spans more than (2^32) bits you will require 64 bit.
P.S. Aeros performance is mostly dictated to the power of the graphics card (GPU).

Why do you need vista 64, are you building a nuclear bomb? Its like buying the latest intel 9000000000000000000000 core insides. Ask yourself the question: Am i ever going to use it as a normal user?

What kind of bugs "dirty" harry? So far after some tests the only thing failing for me is the mass mailing option with more than 500 emails in a row but sure, i guess microsoft dev team didnt want word to be a mass mailing tool right? I guess im a fucking idiot for doing this lol

I use access a lot and have found a few faults. When trying to fix the problem I've found more bugs listed on the sites I use.

I HATE vista. I'm staying on XP forever.
Vista is WindowsME for this decade :-\

LOL UBUNTU...that piece of shit os would go down with ping -l 65531 lol. As for 32bit, 2gbram/4gb ram is enough you dont need more. Theres a big hype about 64bit stuff, but for the typical user , 32 is enoug, and im sure 80% of world's population should be considered TYPICAL USER (NOT TYPICAL MACINTOSH USER)
Aeros performance is ram+video card, aero is shit, i would just use windows blind and solve the problem lol.
ps: you really cant use ubuntu, that was made for idiots that wanted to use lunix. debian like a man, shell prompt, fuck the rest baby.

More bollocks! :D
4Gb is enough? ??? I use 4Gb on the desktop machine I'm on now and under certain loads it starts caching data to the pagefile under Vista and swap under Linux, this tells me there are scenarios where I could use more RAM under desktop conditions.
Just this morning I we set up a server with 2 Xeon quad cores (8 CPU cores) and 32 Gb of RAM.
The database software alone uses 16Gb as a database buffer/cache. Please tell me how it would be possible to address that amount of RAM under a 32 bit OS.
Ubuntu is exceptional and FREE.
P.S. Windows Blinds is absolutely shit software!

Read well, even 2gb ram is enough for any typical windows user (do not confuse with TYPICAL MACINTOSH USER) and 64 isnt for this typical windows users either. There are exemptions, no doubt, but for everything else, 32 is ok.
Ubuntu is good, good for idiots. And yeah, for something "free" you really cant expect anything good. Would you trust secure data to lunix ubuntu lol?
-
Jeez I must be an idiot :o
Yes I would trust secure data on Linux, as would you if you use Google, Facebook or Yahoo.
Many of the biggest companies on earth also trust YOUR PERSONAL DATA on Linux.

No denying WIndow's dominance, it's got most things right.
However, the operating system I despise is Mac OS X. I hate Apple fanboys >:(

I heard a lot of shit about vista, and good stuff about Macs.
So i am thinking now about buying a Macbook instead of a regular laptop.

What do you use your laptop for?

What do you use your laptop for?
I don't have one, but i think i would mainly use it for the internet. So browsing, emails, downloading porn ;D.
I will probably use to watch movies/series as well.
Nothing fancy.
Thing is, i'm going abroad for a while, so it has to be pretty versatile. And i really hate when computers/laptops make a lot of noise (mostly from cooling) so i'll ask for that as well.

I can't say I'm overly impressed with Vista. It's simply too slow - the only thing it beats XP on is possibly the security issue but that's about it. I think I'm gonna wait to see what operating system Microsoft brings out next, wait for a few reviews and then decided what to do. I just jumped the gun with getting Vista. :-\
