I've always read (the etiquette gurus) that it isn't necessary to tip service people who own the business ~ such as a nail tech, hairdresser, aesthetician, etc. Do you tip these providers if they are the business owner?

The guy i get a haircut from owns the barbershop, i hook him up accordingly20-25%...but in the city where drinks can cost 8 bucks, i say fuck it, 1 dollar or nothing...its a rip off....depends if the service/commodity is worth it.

I always tip especially the lady that does my feet, sometimes I feel like I should pay her double! ;D
I cut/shave my own hair and cut my boys hair, maybe I should start tipping myself.

Agreed. Especially where drinks downtown are concerned. I know here in Toronto if you by a Corona downtown in a bar for example, the beer will cost you 8 or 9 bucks on average. I'll just drop a ten spot and be done with it.
