An article on Autospies.com asks the question which is the best (hottest) drop top sports car for this summer. The 911 convert or the new M3 hard-top coupe.

No, get the damn SL, the SLK is for the wife or effeminate men trying to convince others that they are manly. When you see mostly females drive that car, it's a sign.

Imagine the smile on the drivers face as they fuel up and pass a M3

I posted the SLK55 AMG becasue it's more similar to the BMW M3 than the SL IMO.
Overall I would say all converables are womenly and effeminate though...

Quite true....I agree with you on all points. Although the SL AMG variants, Ferraris, Lambos, and Aston Martin droptops tend not to be womenly.

Of, course, the M3 hard-top convertible.
Saw my first Maserati Gran Turismo, the other day, gave the driver the obligatory head nod of approval

No, I was a high way and I noticed the Maserati in white, there was a black dude driving it, I had never seen this car in person, but only on the 'net. Well, I passed him, and he was behind me, but a state trooper was doing laser/radar on us. He hopped into his police cruiser and I thought he was going to get one of us, me especially since i was in front.
After about 2 minutes and no cars, the Maserati pulled up besice me, and we both smiled and nodded.
I live in the Washington,DC area, and it is not uncommon to see, Aston Martin V8 Vantages, DBS's, Ferrari F430's, 360's. And Bentley Continental GT's are so commonplace, they park next me at the store. I feel poor :'(

I always shared this opinion of the SLK. That was until I got a chance to drive the SLK55 AM. It's still too "cute" for my taste, but it's a legitimate sports car.
A couple of years ago, I also got a chance to drive a new SL350 (they still make the 350 in Europe). It has 260 KMH on the dash (that's a little over 160 MPH), and I had it pegged out. Don't know if it was a true 160, but it was FAST.
To answer your original question: The new M3 convertible hands-down! I'd even choose the 335 convertible because of the performance-to-dollar ratio. JMHO

Neither of these........the economy is going through a tough time, I see the return of these hot drop tops...
The Legendary LeBaron Convertible! We need to start a petition to Chrysler to get these things back on the Assembly line!

My college room-mate had one of those. One day we took it out to see how fast it would go. He actually got it up to 109. I remember the speed because it had this big red digital readout. It probably would have gone a little faster with two normal-sized people.
