What are some of your favorite exercises and movements on the gym?
I have grown to really enjoy the Hammer Strength machines for back work.
I feel it in the back and not in the low back or biceps as much.
-
Standing shoulder press
Weighted Dips
Bench Press
Deadlift
-
Dips + tricep pushdowns.
-
I actually like heavy barbell rowing with an underhand grip. Become one of my favorite exercises along with pullups/chins.
-
yes hammerstrengt has the best training equip totally agree. love their back equip.
my piece of shit gym has mostly cybex crap so im pretty much limited to free weights. probably for the better though.

Me too, I have to use the Hammer plate load row however as my low back is shot.
I miss the old school reg rows, but I would end up in major pain and messed up if I did reg barbell heavy ones again. Howard

I don't do much machine work except for the hammer strength pulldown machine. Great machine for isolating the lats.
My back is probably my best body part and freeweight movements like rows made it so.
I also like the incline barbell press because it's probably the best chest exercise one can do.
-
fav exercises bent over rows reverse grip here to and reverse grip pulldowns. for legs probably smith front suats(pussy?) . for chest dumbell presses. tric, scull crushers, shoulders btn presses. bic, concentration curls.

Yes I too like Hammer a lot. I have 21 pieces of Hammer coming in. I just replaced what Cybex I was going to order with some Paramount and Startrac. I have a lot of Nebula free weight coming in. All the benches are Nebula. I have 24,525 lbs of Olympic plates coming in a total of 860 plates. I have 41 leg machines coming in counting the Squat Racks, Power Rack ad other. Starting in July I want to have a thread-like diary on the construction and putting together my flagship gym. Everyday will put down what was done and so forth (up to a point). I think it would be neat to keep a diary of this. Hopefully most of you will like it. It will show everyone what it takes to open a gym. This one is almost 46,000 sq. ft. total not counting the outside areas. So it is going to have quite a bit of stuff.

Sounds awesome, dude. I for one would be interested in seeing pics. Are you gonna cater to a mixed crowd mainly, or more to "serious" lifters?

Absoutley mixed. It is going to be the largest MMA training center when open. We will have 3 22' octagons, 1 22' boxing ring, the MAt room is just under 3,000 sq.ft. and the bag area will have about 25 to 30 heavy bags (vary is sizes), 5 speed bags (adjustable), and elevated observation deck with bleachers so you can watch either BJJ or the rings, some cardio and also access to the high altitude room. There will be kettle bells and a stretching area too in the MMA side. It will be separated from the Main gym floor with a mezzanine where at one end there is cardio and the other end will be our corpoarate offices. right now I have 131 pieces of cardio in the main gym. Each locker room is almost 1700 sq.ft. They will be country club style locker rooms. Have 1000 sq f.t of Physical Therapy that a group from the East coast will be operating. We will have some of the latest in testing equipment in there. I have 3 Hyper-baric pressure chambers coming in. 3 tanning beds. 1100+ sq.ft pro shop, 1000 sq ft cafe serving the best healthy food around. The group fitness is upstairs in the back and is about 3,000 sq.ft in size along with a spinning room and pilates room. There are also 2 mens and 2 womens restrooms in the back. Fighters training for upcoming fights will train for free and will be able to use the high altitude room for free too. We will be providing a training center designed around professional atheltes but available to everyone. We have a 1200 sq.ft child care center too. I will have artist renderings hopefully by the end of June. They will show in color what it will look like. The design of the main gym is a modern industrial look. The MMA center (which is accessible with a finger print reader) will look like a New York City back alley and be very inspirational. All the cardio will have their own TV built in. The MMA center will have a couple large projections screens showing various highlight DVD's and so forth.
I can't wait/

The location is Ft Apache and Tropicana and my friend from Hawaii is doing the sound and video. We will have live streaming video online of the MMA classes and group fitness. I have 24 security cameras going fully accessible with the internet. This is our flagship and we are building 3 to 4 more. I have a piece of property we are looking at on Farm and Durango for the second location unless I can find a good one in Henderson. My friend has 10 acres out on Farm and says he has 20,000 sq. ft. available for me. Kind of small but maybe will work.

Actually I started this in March of last year. The Business Plan was completed in October from then till now is how long it took me to get all my finances set up. Beleive me I wish it was faster but I gotta go with the flow. I finally get my funds released on Monday so I am getting more excited as it gets closer.

not to be a dick, but.... It not required, but most gym owners I know, are not obese. Do you have plans to reduce your weight before the gym opens? Sounds like a badass gym tho.

Dang man that sounds phenomenal. Definitely blows any commercial I've been in out of the water. Best of luck with the grand unveiling.

Yes I do thanks for the headsup. Have you seen the old owners of Powerhouse. But no worries I am already down in weight and getting better everyday. My goal is to be about 90% by the time we open. I know I shouldn't look bad if I am going to be the owner. So I promise I will at least look the part.

Here is a very rough layout I did in Photoshop. One of the equipment companies just gave me Autosketch so I am doing one with the equipment layout to scale right now. It will be alot better. My architect will do the real thing but I like doing this stuff. It shows the basic layout though. It doesn't have the rear upstairs either

SL Deadlifts, BB rows, weighted chins, squats (I enjoy front squats more and more), and triceps in general. I enjoy the bench press also.

Agreed, and not just Hammer some others depending on the piece including Cybex, Lifefitness, etc.

Which ones. The only cardio room really is the Group Fitness and Spinning. Those are always enclosed in every gym in the world. All the other cardio is the machines on top of the mezzanines

Stretching behind the hot chicks on the stairmaster or stretching in front of the hot chicks doing those leg machines where they keep opening and closing their legs.
