What are your picks?
"Bad Santa" is def in the top 5 for me.
-
Street Fighter
-
some spanish movie :)
-
Dr. Zhivago and Christopher Walken's ping pong extravaganza "Balls of Fury."
-
"Turkish Star Wars" aka "The Man Who Saved The World" with Cuneyt Arkin. That shit is diesel.
-
Matrix trilogy baby!
-
"Bloodsucking Freaks" - a masterpiece
-
'Papillion', with Dustin Hoffman & Steve McQueen
-
Off the top of my head
Godfather 1-2, Star Wars 2-6, Matrix Trilogy, Fight Club, Rocky, Superman 1-2, Indiana Jones, Deer Hunter, Seven Samurai or anything Kurosawa, Spider-man 1-2, Platoon, Patton, Raging Bull, Goodfellas....to be continued :)
-
One flew over the cuckoos nest
Cool hand luke
U cant go wrong with those 2 films ;)
-
Street Fighter
I never caught the end I left the movie after about an hour. Couldn't take it.
-
Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, The Shining, I know the acting is a little gay but best flight sequences of the 80s Top Gun.
-
89' Batman closely followed by Batman Begins
-
is there such thing as a bodybuilder who's a film buff?
the films usually mentioned on this site are all terrible action flicks or comic-book adaptations, nothing 'serious'

How about "Bad Santa", do you believe its up there with all the American film classics?
-
89' Batman closely followed by Batman Begins
Batman Begins destroyed any of the other Batman films ;)
-
'Papillion', with Dustin Hoffman & Steve McQueen
Fuck I hate agreeing with you Moose but I was going to type that.
-

There's a couple of us. I can think of Bay, offhand. But, why mention movies that people have never seen, let alone heard of!? You'll just get slammed, and maybe rightly so. :-\
-
Seriously:
-Ingmar Bergman's "Fanny and Alexander" (the 6-hour long version is even better).
-Once Upon A time in America
-Umberto D. by Vittorio De Sica
-Robert Bresson's "Au Hasard, Balthasar"
-

Hmm. That's Bergman's last one. I like the earlier ones, like Wild Strawberries. Fuckin' gloomy guy, Bergman. I find more resonance with the whimsy of Fellini - La Strada being brilliant.
Love Leone, but prefer Once upon the time in the West.
Umberto D is one of the 10 best movies ever!
I tend to like the Lubitsch comedies and I absolutely love Preston Sturges. :)
-
I love "The Shop Around The Corner", one of my all time favorites. I always quote that particular Bergman because it sums up all his obsessions and his artistic career in a brilliant way but I also love "Persona", "Vargtimmen", "Wild Strawberries" and most of his work from the end of the 50's to the 70's. I'm a big Leone fan, I've seen "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" more than any other movie and "Once Upon A Time In The West" is also one of my all-time favorites. With "The Wild Bunch", it's the best western about the end of the west and the rise of "modern times".

Awesome! I totally agree. Most movie lists put Wayne's The Searchers at the top of the best Western movie list, and while it is excellent, I absolutely love the grizzled old guys in The Wild Bunch going down/out in a blaze of glory. Lotsa great actors, character actors, balletic action, comedy, and although it does droop a tad 2/3's through, it is my favourite western. On occasion I'll drop "If they move, *kill 'em*!" into a conversation. People look at me like I'm an idiot. :D
-
The Sound of Music, Mari Poppins, Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang, Miracle on 34th Street...etc.

Goodfellas.....
Tommy DeVito: No more shines, Billy.
Billy Batts: What?
Tommy DeVito: I said, no more shines. Maybe you didn't hear about it, you've been away a long time. They didn't go up there and tell you. I don't shine shoes anymore.
Billy Batts: Relax, will ya? Ya flip right out, what's got into you? I'm breaking your balls a little bit, that's all. I'm only kidding with ya...
Tommy DeVito: Sometimes you don't sound like you're kidding, you know, there's a lotta people around...
Billy Batts: I'm only kidding with you, we're having a party, I just came home and I haven't seen you in a long time and I'm breaking your balls, and you're getting fucking fresh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you.
Tommy DeVito: I'm sorry too. It's okay. No problem.
Billy Batts: Okay, salud.
Billy Batts: [takes a drink] Now go home and get your fuckin' shinebox.

2 most POWERFUL movie quotes that we all love to say..
Heat: "Rememember what Jimmy Mac used to say if you're gonna be making moves on the streets, have no attachments, allow nothing in your life you cannot walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner...''
"...you've seen my face, yeagh...but I will NOT HESITATE. Not for a second. "
First Blood: "...over there, I was in charge of million dollar equipment over here I cant even hold a job washing CARS... I can't get it out of my mind. I wake up and I dont know where I am. I don't talk to anybody. Sometimes not for days...weeks..."

Casino was on a couple nights ago-I have seen it about 50 times, same with Goodfellas, and I swear to god those 2 movies NEVER get old.
Joe Pecsi and Robert DeNiro are dead on the money.
Also liked the DeNiro show Heat, damn good.
-
"Bloodsucking Freaks" - a masterpiece
LOL!! I watched that at least five times in 2006. It's banned in Ontario. We have some pretty ridiculous speech laws in Canada.

I hear ya, Pesci and Deniro were unbelievable in those flicks. Pesci's Nicki Santoro character in Casino is one of the best ever in any film IMO. Remember this scene? hahahaa

I rented two Jason Statham movies the other day. One was about Medieval times and he was fighting half men, half beasts called the Krugs, don't remember the name of the film, King something, but it was awful. I rented Chaos as well, with Snipes and Ryan Philippe along with JS, it was pretty good.

Yeah, I get those looks also when I start quoting movie dialogues. I also love the "He gave his word!" dialogue between Dutch and Pike about Robert Ryan.

Actually, I know a little about Turkish cinema as I have to confess that I love "terrible" movies. And Turkish cinema has been good to me. Check out any movie with Cuneyt Arkin and you'll spend a week pissing yourself in between epileptic bursts of laughter.

cüneyt arkin is da shit,he would kill chuck norris in seconds

well, you have to put in the context of that time...it was the seventies, an italian production with absolutely no money...they simply pushed all that was considered 'good taste' to the limits...dont forget that the Blair Witch Project its just a completely rip off CH, specially because at that time, the 'cool' part of that movie is that they really thought the guys died...(the same as BW)
ahaha, but yeah, i watched that movie 100 times, but the turtle scene make me want to throw up every single f*cking time :-X
