Title: Broke out my Motorcycle today.
Post by: chainsaw on May 29, 2008, 05:56:45 AM
Even though I write off my gas for my business
I can't justify giving these arabs $4.10 a gallon of gas.
Or the Bush Family for that matter.

I'll ride that for the summer.

Anyone else feel similar?

You learn fast, my poor american friend.

But i have to say i agree with you, fucking gasoline is too expensive. Here in germany, i pay 1,50 Euros for one liter. That's 2$33 for one liter, that about 9$ per gallon.

91 AND 95. they put the two at the same price, probably to rule out the formerly cheaper 91 octane gasoline.

If you want 98 or even more, you have to pay more. i think 100 octane is about 1,62 Euros per liter at the moment.

Funny thing is less than 10% of the oil the US imports is from those Arabs.  The majority comes from Canada,Mexico,Nigeria,Venezuela and of course the US.

Fact:  The US produces enough oil that it doesn't need to import from other countries but it makes more money selling it on the open market than keeping it.

A lot of these countries owe massive debts to the US and they repay a lot of it back in oil instead of cash.

So Fuck you and learn a little bit about how the oil market works.

Do they have a decent public transit system in Germany? Trains/non-American clean buses?  :)

NOOOOOOO!!!!!

Not at all. Public transport in germany means dirty buses full of screaming kids, stinking foreigners and angry grandmas, and it's even more expensive than using a car if you you use the car with at least one other person.

Plus, the trains are always too late.

Yes but you have the Autobahns and the Nurburgring so it's not all bad!

That doesn't help very much if the gas prices will rise further.

I just don't like to spend so much money on something so stupid.

Public Transportation in Ottawa (Canada) is topnotch! It's clean, diverse, and you can get anywhere in and around the city with ease

I took the bus in El Paso and it was full of Mexicans  :(

I guess some things don't change no matter where you are. The bottom of the barrel are always on the bus. When I lived in ATL the train was clean and was really cheap though.

Japan is different, some other asian countries as well.

There you have a lot of clean, wealthy people on public transport. Singapure and Hong Kong also fit.

I paid £1.19 per litre yesterday, which is roughly the same as you lot.

Good to see that we are not the only ones getting screwed.

somewhat idiotic attitude. (Sorry)

"If i feel bad, i feel better when you feel bad too."

I would buy an electronic car immediatly, if it a) ran about 120 kph b) have a reach of at least 200km with an additional gasoline engine or a reach of 500km.

I bet a lot of people would do that, i cannot understand why automobile companies take so much time in inventing something like that.
Solar power would even be better.  ;D ;D

Schadenfreude would be something different i guess.

Schadenfreude does not mean that you are in the same situation. Schadenfreude would be that my gasoline prices are stable when i drive a old shabby 3 liter car and yours go up and you have a nice 25 liter Porsche Cayenne. Or sth like that.

After reading this thread I have decided to get used Fatboy.  Do you guys know the best year they made.  I don't want a new one.  I will ride it just for short rides unless I want to go cruising to the damm or up to the mountains.  I am getting an Escalade either next week or the week after so the Harley will just be a part time ride.  Any suggestions on what year.

The newer ones have fuel injection vs carbs on the older ones. Any year is OK, the newer it is, obviously, the less likely to have problems. You should be able to get a really good deal, douchebags that bought them because they were cool a couple of years ago are dropping them a dime a dozen now.

Looks cool, how big of a rear tire and what kind of front end are you going to run? Are you putting sky high ape hangers on it?

i dont know man,it seems like every one i speak to who is looking at getting there first bikes are all doing that "i have to get a 600 or i will kill myself" shit.

i would never waste my money on buying a 600 or a 750 for that matter.hell my 929rr is the smallest motorcycle i have ever owned,i guess most guys are just pussies who need to stop listening to these know it all assholes who ruin enthusiasm.

and unless you are a small framed girl i would never recomend a 600 to anybody.

yeah.. coming from the ego that steet racing brings i think it would be smart for most guys to start low and learn how to really ride.  if you're spine is determined by your number of cc's then have at it.  not like we can't (or don't) move up as time goes on.

its not about "street racing ego's" it about getting a better more comfortable bike that you dont have to replace "as time goes on".

In a car we can push it without usually worrying about our bodies as much as our machines.  But not knowing how to ride and then pushing it on a bike is a different ball game.  99% of experienced riders will tell a beginner to start small despite the inconvenience of trading it up for something bigger down the road.  I'm inclined to trust their opinion.

you start out with a 600 because it is cheaper. most guys that buy a bike, or a jet ski, or a 4 wheeler or anything usually are interested in them at first them give them up. an 1100 is a bigger investment.

i started with a suzuki gsx 1000. fits me much better then my 600 since im 6'4. but for me fucking around nyc i dont need that power. and a 600 gets awesome gas milage

i would not  call a bike that goes over 155  a 'pussys' bike

this is my new bike.

What's wrong with an 1100?

Nothing, if a person is new to riding they don't need an 1100. To much power, and the investment is much larger. A 600 will do 0 - 60 as fast as you can shift, and top out at well over 150.
