Post by: Lift Studios on May 29, 2008, 04:26:04 PM
Peter Putnam won his class at USAs but missed getting his pro card. He's passing on the USAs this year to focus on Nationals.

STFU you moron.

If Putnam is a pro caliper amateur, then the ranks of the amatuers are pretty fucked up.

That guy would have had trouble winning the LA  Open or the Orange County Msucle Classic back in the 80's.

Eh...

gh15 knows his stuff when it comes to bodybuilding.  Not that he is necessarily right about everything, but if I had to bet on contest results based on one member's predictions, he would definitely be the one.

By the way, as far as the Peter bashing goes (which hopefully has subsided), he was kind enough to give me a free autographed picture at the O last year.  That's pretty cool when you consider that is his income at the expos.  It may seem like nothing, but really, it's not.  I think most would agree that he is a nice guy if they met him.

Agreed.  He will get it this year tho at Nationals.  He got pretty big so the cut to Light Heavy is gonna be very tough since most of the weight he added was muscle and his bodyfat is still low.

he should wait for the North American championship - that show usually has a pretty weak lineup

Both Peter and Jess are way too nice to be involved in this business. I had a chance to speak with them at the Arnold and they are very sweet and down-to-earth people. Heck, I might even move to Tennessee just to closer to them!

Not weak on an absolute scale, but weaker than the Nationals yes.  I think you are correct that it would be a good show for Putnam to enter.

And Special Ed, on occasion there are some down to earth people in the business.  I suppose it's just a matter of not giving in to some of the excesses of the scene.

it is a smart move because if he comesin shape then he is guaranteed his class and a pro card

I heard Paul Dillet is great with other guys' wives. Ask Christian Loabarede, as he can attest to that......

Pete is a really cool guy.  Met him a few times.  If he nails his conditioning he should get his card.  I'm not really sure who else is a major contender in the Light Heavies.

you said last year that the reason that Putnam did not get his pro card was because his picture was used to promote an open source board.

Agreed!
Peter and Jessica are good friends of ours and great people!
Peter told me months ago he was not doing the USA's so this is not breaking news. He trained with me ( well I did legs as thats all I can do till my rotator cuff heals) a few weeks back and looks great!

He seems like a great guy !
sad people gave him shit for the judges decisions.

I don't think he should have won the last few times also but he looked great at the nats, condition was much improved

Peter has a decent physique just needes to bring up his back and nail his conditioning. I think that the judges would like to see him get his pro card. If he comes in at 95% conditioned he will most likley win his class unless a freak comes along.

I think he needs to be 100% ripped , and if so, Peter should win the Lt Hvys. He has the overall shape and classic lines along with some impressive legs.

C'mon the nationals will be in my backyard of ATL this year.
If I can get down to a ripped sub 200lbs and qualify , look out Putnam. 8)
I will be a couple weeks shy of age 50 at the nationals and have not qualified or competed in over 13 years.
I also need to lose a good 45 lbs to get back down there, so I am a Looooooooooooong shot.
What do ya think? Should Peter P be worried about me? LOL

On a serious note, if ( a big if) I can remain on my diet and re-qualify this fall, I would like to get up on stage at the nationals this yr, just to say I did it.If I made the top 15, I would be thrilled.I know it may sound dumb, but this nationals goal kinda excites me to bust ass. Look, I am not delusional and realize I won't come close to some top guy like Peter Putnam. But , like the original Rocky, if I can bust ass,REALLY diet and lose the wt, I could stand a chance to make the top 15, if I got really ripped. That would be victory for this old warhorse.

LOL< I know I sound retarded, but this is my "Rudy-Notre Dame" plan.
I don't plan on beating Peter or the 2006 champ.
Worse come to worse I either won't qualify this fall or I will end up being the "Melvin Goodrum" of the 2008 nationals LOL ( sorry Goodrum, I couldn't resist).
Either way, i will end up in my best shape in over a decade and be able to compete in Mr Get BIG 4. :-*

The reality is that when a guy has some hype and advance pub it gets a buzz going and it helps get the guy noticed, but ya still gotta bring the goods.
