A striking characteristic of the pyramids and Sphinx of Giza is the way in which they are integrated into a grand architectural plan, based on mathematical and astronomical data. There is no evidence that the pyramids were used as tombs. What is certain is that two narrow shafts emanating from inside the Great Pyramid were directed to two specific stars: Zeta Orionis, one of the three stars in Orion's belt, and Sirius, in the constellation of Canis Major.
It is certain, too, that the principal Giza monuments form an accurate terrestrial 'map' of the three stars of Orion's belt as these constellations appeared in 10,500 BC. Who could have been observing the skies over Giza in 10,500 BC and who, at that date, could have had the technical capacity to realize such monumental works as the Sphinx and the pyramids? Egyptologists assert there was no civilization on Earth at that time, let alone one capable of planning and building such immense, well engineered structures. If they are right, why do the alignments of Giza so plainly and repetitively mirror the skies of the 11th millennium BC?

the Atlantans did it...

The aliens.
thread closed.

Atlantis never existed, it was only Plato's idea and aliens well in my view they're bullshit.
still this question is left to be answered.
Why are the pyramids lined up with Orion from 10 500 BC? The Sphinx was originally a lion.

Do you know anything about celestial mechanics? About the procession of the equinox (constellations - Leo, Taurus, Aquarius etc...)?
While the earth is tilted at 23.5 degrees and as it spins it wobbles by about 1.5 degrees. A full wobble takes about 25,776 years. Because of that we have different equinoxes at the same point on the earth on the same day (june 21) of each year and each change of an equinox takes around 2160 years .
The sphinx points directly the sun would have rose into the constellation Leo, in 10,450 BC.
Remember this is the "dawning of the age of Aquarius" ;D, and before that 2000 years ago it was Pieces.....The time of Jesus, Seen a Christian bumper stick with a fish on it lately? Lots of Egyptian mythology and writing have something to do with bull, (Taurus).

not really, is there a cliff notes version. I'm interested in this I can't sit here all day looking at this. If I could spend a good hour or two to get the basics that'd be be great.

I'm not sure i can give you a quick version. I learn about all this in a book by Graham Hancock: "Finger Prints of the Gods". He's been on some discovery channel specials. His big thing is that there was an advanced civilization that existed before the egyptians that built the sphinx and the great pyramid.
I think if you google or wiki the procession of the equinoxes or Celestial mechanics you might find something that summarizes it.
The Great pyramid is a fascinating work. the more you learn about it the more mysterious it becomes
