Title: 30 Days training as a pro bodybuilder
Post by: dantelis on June 03, 2008, 02:23:52 PM
Morgan Spurlock has his 30 days program on FX where he immerses himself in a culture for 30 days.  (See http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/30days/ (http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/30days/))  I think that it is time for a Getbigger (especially one needing to add lots of muscle) to take up the challenge and spend 30 days training like a pro bodybuilder (including taking supplements & chemicals) and filming it.  It'd be interesting to see the changes over that 30 days.  Might make a good documentary to show at the Olympia.

Any takers?

They had an episode in the first season I which was on Anti aging. The guy was basically pumping gh into his body, and exercising. Wasn't much different to a pro bodybuilders lifestyle?

Anti-Aging

First aired: 6/22/2005    Production Code: 102
Can the aging process be reversed? A thirty-something former athlete battles back at his expanding waistline and lowering libido by going on an anti-aging drug regime prescribed by a doctor for 30 days. What will the effects be on his marriage, career, and mood? During his 30 days of drug therapy he will exercise with a trainer, adhere to a nutritionist’s plan and undergo monitoring by his doctor to watch for any negative side effects. Can he recapture his youth?

30 days isn't long enough - make it 90 for better and more convincing results.

I was part of Harrison Pope's studies many years ago (im from boston/was "bouncing" in nite-clubs with no health insurance) i did it for the free blood work/screens
i remember part of the study was physiological  (the mind how i reacted to certain situations.. example of a question he would ask"
Mike if your girlfriend burned your steak you would A: tell her it's ok we can go out to eat
B: yell at her and have her cook another steak
C: rip that stupid fucking bitch's head off(your a bodybuilder for christ sakes you need your protein!)
of course i exaggerated but you get the point
other part was physical exams (a nurse used to "caliper" my balls every visit)
wacky stuff lol!
he also cut me a check every time i went
3 test groups :  on steroids
                      never touched em
used em but off right now

In the 90's i workedout at World Gym in Waltham. Pope trained there and would recruit guys for steroid studies. I never participated, but was asked. You're right Mike ,a lot of guys did it for the free gear and blood work,etc.. It was very convenient because Mcleans Hospital was about a mile away.

This is a much better and much healthier idea than eating only McDonalds for a month.

Depends on the supplements and chemical you take.  Taking a pro's regime of supplements, HGH and steroids over 30 days might adversely effect a person just as much as eating McDonalds.  That's why it would be interesting to see the results, especially the doctor's reports and lab tests throughout the 30 days.

Are you thinking of Ted Arcidi ?  He was the first to eclipse 700lbs. He did 705.5lbs about 1985 or so, and the record stood for a while.

I guess according to him he wore a 1ply lifting shirt, which he said was to prevent an injury from re-occurring. He was mad afterwards, saying he could have done the lift without it. His record has been been shattered, but by guys wearing much thicker bench shirts. But if he had actually done the lift raw, I think it would still be record.
