he wants many meetings where he sits down with Obama, and they talk, with no moderator, and no rules. Just a chat.
Why?
Because that's where he can gain. Obama will look like a bully, interrupting a frail old man. And he knows that on a big stage, without thousands watching and NBC cameras shining, Obama will look vibrant and mccain will not.
Obama can't win here. If he sits down at a table with mccain, he'll look stale and rude. He can't shine.
Good move, but you have to admit mccain - saying he doesn't want debates with stages and moderators - doesn't want to stand under the lights next to a man who looks a lot better.
Remember... JFK won in 1960 over Nixon only because of that TV debates... nixon was sweaty and ugly, JFK vibrant and smiling. Everyone who heard it on the radio gave it to nixon, and those who watched on tv gave it to JFK.

Ur missing the point...Obama can't think on his feet. He needs talking points and prepared answers, he's horrible at off the cuff remarks. We've talked about this before. Obama gives great speeches but asked to just chat and McCain will crush him. Look at the gaffs he's made over the last several weeks.

What do you think about the second part - Mccain "deciding" that the formal debates just aren't right for him? LMAO...
he wants to debate a seated obama on topics he brings up. Of course.
he doesn't want to stand onstage, a slumped old man, next to a grinning Obama. THAT is what bothers me. Challenge Obama to town hall meetings, I would like to see those. BUT - when he says he wants those INSTEAD of formal standing debates - well, he doesn't want to be visually owned. And that's a bitch move.
