I didn't think it would be possible, but these are worse options than we had in 2004.

Yeah.....its not even that both are polar extremes like in 2004. U have a conservative Dem pretending to be a moderate Repub and a Socialist pretending to be a Liberal dem.

I tired of the office completely...  Somehow it's gotten way to King like for my taste, especially over the last 8 years.

90% of the votes will be against one of the candidates.

Why?

Because  america is TOO STUPID to nominate a real candidate or simply doesn't have one.

Telling that the majority of people who agree are conservative leaning. I think this is why Obama (and the democratic party) have an edge in this election cycle. Their constituents are actually excited about their options.

they need to take off their rose-coloured glasses.

Being unreasonable and being pessimistic aren't the same things. Actually, in this case the pessimists have shown a clear inclination towards effete apathy, while the optimists are mobilizing for change.

One other thing: just because a saying is pithy does not mean it is accurate.

HAHAHAHAHA

I loled

there is that word again.

What is going to change?

I'm pessimistic nothing will change and the people who believe in obama are unreasonable.

mccain is no better.

You do realize that this means you believe change will occur, don't you?

Look, the fact of the matter is that the man in the big office does have an effect on the average American's life. I'm assuming you're one of these people who believe he is a whole lot rhetoric with no real ideas of experience. He actually was a pretty effective senator. As a senator, he thought big. Bills he introduced were notable for introducing sweeping reform. Last year, he introduced and got more bills passed than both McCain and Clinton. He also regularly recruited more co-sponsors for his bills than Clinton.(Several of  Clinton's bills actually had no co-sponsors)

A healthy portion of the bills Clinton introduced were almost nominal: honorary days for veterans, tax rebates.

Obama managed to pass bills of larger scope. His record focused on energy, health care, education and the environment. He introduced and passed more bills than either  Clinton or Mccain in these categories. You can easily look up this information on the Library of Congress' website.

You may not like the man, but he has demonstrated that he is a different kind of politician.

I'm curious as to  why you would post a quote attributing  progress to the unreasonable , then criticize the idea of being unreasonable. I guess your point is too deep for me.

could be.  ;)

there will not be any real change. In my view there has to be a systemic change to the entire system. This will not happen. I understand this. When I hear all this talk of change, what are they really planning on changing when they are still working within the system that has gotten us to this point? No one is talking about changing anything. It's a giant handjob. Waste of time and energy. People are getting their hopes up for nothing.

This sounds like something a college freshman would say.

"What can be changed when working within the system"? Are you fucking kidding? That's the only way that you can influence the system. What do you think would be more effective, rhyming protest posters and sit ins. Firebombing the Capital building? No,. Different administrations mean real tangible differences in America, and the integrity and intelligence of a particular administration is an important marker.

i know no one wants to bring it up

ron paul was willing to work within the system to change it completely. nothing obama is offering is close to that
