Mike Quinn was always an interesting read in the muscle mags.
He struggled alot with his mind and substance abuse.
He always seemed like he would wait until the last minute to
get in shape which usually resulted in extreme diets.
If he had his head together he could have been much better IMO.
Most consider his 208 pound physique at the 1988 Olympia to be his
best physique. He thought his 225 pound body he brought to the
1994? Night of Champions was his best.
Great upper body but the wheels never matched up.

His lower pecs looked a lot like Craig Titus. Two guys who went under the knife to remove GYNO and something went wrong in the process. It's obvious that the doctor removed muscle in the process and the skin just hangs over where the muscle used to be. As for the Quinn brothers, I wonder what their mother's grocery bill cost her when they were teens?

Also, he had EPIC hair loss due to MASSIVE dosages of steroids. To make matters worse he tried to pull a Stephen Seagal and grow out his balding hair.  :-X

the sad thing was Mike had already won the nabba Mr. Universe and wanted to compete in the ifbb. weider said he was not qualified and had to go back to national amateur competition to earn his pro card.  this is the same situation that ended Jeff King's career. meanwhile Brian Buchanan, Edwardo Kawak, John Brown and several others were gifted IFBB pro cards based on their nabba success.

I think he looked much better when he was heavier, i also heard that this guy ate insane amounts of red meat like Matarazzo did too. When you look through his old interviews he allways seemed to be pissed or angry at something. And i don't know if this is a fact or what, but wasn't he a member of the Hells Angels? I mean it's not like it's an accomplishment or anything, but seems kind of weird that a top athlete would wan't to risk his career hanging out with guys that do weird shit...

Post by: Luolamies on June 05, 2008, 03:32:10 AM
From my understanding the lowest BF anyone (alive) could ever had is something like 2-2.5% I once spoke with this sports doctor and he said that it would basically mean that you only had the fat that is in you're brains and that this level if it even would be possible to obtain would be life threatening and you would be able to keep it only for like 1-3 days.

90% of what FLEX ever said is BS. He is not only one of the dummest bodybuilders of all time, but also one of the dummest people of all time. I think the second place goes to Dexter Jackson, when you see hi's interviews, you can tell that the lights are "on" but there is no one there. No wonder these two guys are friends. Even Chris Cormier is ten times smarter than these two guys combined and even he is not that smart.

Yeah, and there was that too, how retarded do you have to be to actually think that ANYONE would believe a story like that?
Title: Re: mike quinn
Post by: RZA on June 05, 2008, 03:41:36 AM
Actually, from what I remember, it was Greg Louganis who was supposed to have the lowest BF of any athletes. At least, back then. He was supposed to be around 3,5-4% and as athletes tend to exagerate I wouldn't be surprised to know that he was actually more like 5%.

I actually ordered that show on a Pay Per View in 92. And Quinn looked like DOG shit, and the entire show SUCKED big time.

The funny thing is that only 29 people in the ENTIRE county of San Diego ordered that show-and it was pretty much the same all over CA. and the USA. 29 people in the whole fucking county of 2.5 million.

2 months after this show aired-and the low PPV turn out, mcMahon pulled the plug on the WBF.
Title: Re: mike quinn
Post by: Luolamies on June 06, 2008, 12:29:50 AM
29 People huh? I really hope that there will become some new organisation that "stands" against the IFBB. I think WBF had a chance and the PDI also, but by turn of events, like the cancer that the leader of PDI got, messed things up. It's fucking shame. For too long the IFBB has screwed over it's athletes and when someone speaks up they shut him down. Also the IFBB is one of the most hypocritical organisations in the world. They WAN'T their athletes to take extreme measures to get into the best condition year after year and do not care who drops dead.

I was just going on memory on everything I said. I missed the weight in 1988.
They weighed the competitors that year; something I wished they did every year.
This way we would know if these incredible weight claims are true.

From IronMan Mag Oct. 1994:
Lonnie T.
I thought you were your best ever at the 88 Olympia at 205 pds.
You weighed 225 at the 94 NOC. How would you compare the two conditions?

Mike: I think I was at my best this time. I was sharp and had more muscle.
In 88 I was too skinny. I was sliced but there was no muscle there.
For me to compete, I have to be hard and big.
Sliced doesn't mean shit... I'm not going to be able to stand next to the bigger guys.

No Boston mob related (Mass is where he is from). Good guy, we used to train and hang out a lot together. You are right and i know what your saying, because in my family (relatives) i'm kind of considered as the "white sheep." And i like it, i have no intentions of taking any kind of "vacations" in the big house.

I was a bouncer for 4 years in this heavy metal bar and that place was crazy, plus i was the only bouncer there, because the owner was a cheap ass. Anyway, there were a lot real bikers as customers and very rarely they would cause problems and they gave good tips too...
