It’s official – Lee Priest is back in the IFBB, effective immediately.
“Yes, he’s back in the IFBB,” IFBB Professional League Chairman Jim Manion said. “He’s free to enter any contest, he’s free to guest pose. He has to sign his membership card but other than that formality, which I’m sure he will do, he’s officially back.”
Priest had been suspended by the IFBB since 2006, after choosing to compete in another organization, the now defunct Pro Division Inc. Priest had since reapplied for reinstatement. IFBB officials had originally planned to put Priest’s reinstatement up for a vote on Olympia Weekend, but recently decided to expedite that process in order to allow Priest a chance to qualify for the 2008 Olympia. When the decision was put to a vote, the committee voted overwhelmingly in Priest’s favor, as 11 of 16 members voted to allow Priest’s reinstatement.
“I think the timing was right,” Manion said. “I think Lee has been penalized long enough. He’s made a lot of overtures obviously to try to get back in the IFBB. He was probably going to be allowed back in September, so we decided to let him get back involved with the IFBB sooner. I’m sure he can’t wait to jump back on stage and get back into the action.”
Priest had been very outspoken in his decision to leave the IFBB, and, until recently, had been critical of officials for not allowing his reinstatement. However, Priest’s negative behavior has improved greatly in recent months, which led officials to believe the timing was right to allow Priest back in the IFBB.
“I think he made a bad decision [to leave the IFBB] and I think he knows he made a bad decision,” Manion said. “If he does break the rules again this will be his last chance basically. But in my heart I think he regrets it, so I don’t think that will happen again.
“The IFBB does not rely on one bodybuilder. One bodybuilder is not going to make or break the IFBB. Our federation is much too strong for that. Whether that be Lee Priest, who was suspended, or Ronnie Coleman retiring, the IFBB will always be moving forward.”
Now that the path is cleared for Priest's return to competition, expect to see him on stage at the Atlantic City Pro on September 12-13, where he will attempt to qualify for the 2008 Olympia.

I don't agree. The guy claims he's been off the sauce for well over a year. If that's true, his receptors will suck up that juice like a sponge. The guy is a genetic freak, he was competing at 13. He could come in better than he has in a long time. I'm not a fan of his tattoos, but if he can get his back and hams shredded, he'll look good.

Havent seen it, dont know whether it will be a distraction or not....if it's still in outline form, I doubt it would even be that visable....If he got it filled, that might be another story.

Reinstating Lee will help with this in some of the remaining smaller shows this year. Long-term I don't know what we're going to do. If we don't either cut down the number of shows or get some new talent quick, Shari Kamali could possibly return to being considered a 'top pro', and we certainly don't want that!"

Manion is also head of the IFBB professional div along with his NPC office as pres.
I am glad for Lee that he won his battle to get back in, but don't think his physique will be able to make much impact in the current IFBB pro lineup.

Jim Manion is the Chairman of the IFBB Professional League, and also the President of the NPC.
It is be nice to see Lee back on stage, but the question will be when?
Will it be the Atlantic Pro, or even earlier? And will he qualify right away in his first pro show, and come gunning for the Olympia.
But the big question is .... what style of hair will he choose? U.S. Hairstylists just want to know.

By the way, lee had to come back in ifbb to continue to be a third tier pro to make a living, and he's not goign to do anything different than what he has done until he got booted. There 's not going to be any surprises from him, just the same old lee as usual, but this time he s gonna keep his mouth shut toward the IFBB that feeds him.
He just struggled to make money without the IFBB and his incomes melted quickly . He is VERY LUCKY that they accepted him back, but somehow I wonder what he had to do in order to get back, maybe things we won't know about...

Bodybuilding has its own Goon Show and it is the Pro league or whatever name Manion uses. He collects loyal stooges who believe they have a vote on his committee. Wonder who the 5 were who didn't vote to reinstate Lee?
As usual Bob gets the credit but did bugger all for Lee. In the end it is all about what Manion says. Same old IFBB jobs for the boys story.
Maybe Lee was going to enter other shows and Manion thought it best to keep him in the IFBB? There were no rules regarding this reinstatement. Just whim and that is what amazes me about bodybuilding. Bodybuilders have always kissed butt to make sure they don't upset anyone and spoil their chances in contests. Arnold was the master manipulator and Sergio had no clue about what to do.
