well most of those are in muslim countries but most muslims r hypocrites and dont actually follow the koran..if they actually did we'd have lesser extremists :-\ (ideally)
a certain % of every muslims income is supposed to go to charity....which they conveniently forget to do..even the ones that pray 5 times/day

i do give anywhere between $50-to a $100 to a homeless guy that sometimes mops the floor at the gasstation for a few extra bucks, every paycheck..
i really should sign up for the christians children fund...they seem legit and its a good cause..

Just to make ProteinFarts' points more factual:
There would be less extemists because the world would be under islamic rule. If every muslim followed the koran the world would be an ugly place.
Muslims would wish want death to apostates, women would require 4 witnesses to a mans one witness, etc etc.
Also note the donations to charity must be a ISLAMIC charity for this to be fulfilled.

I could be wrong about the following but.....
I don't think he purposely is untruthful about Islam but maybe it's possible he may not be that familiar w/teachings from the Koran (neither am I) but he may think "real Islam (and not extreme)" is OK because his parents are Muslim and they seem to love and respect each other and others and are wonderful people with a good relationship.
Toxy has said several times he is atheist and not Muslim but I think he may defend Islam at times because in a way he could feel he is indirectly defending his loved ones.
Of course it's possible I could be completely incorrect!

I don't usually read your and Toxy's posts back and forth so I don't know if when you state what is in the Koran are you stating the "book and verse (for lack of knowing what the Koranic terms would be)?" Maybe if you stated the Sura or whatever it is you could both address it objectively?

No I mean you should post the "book" and "verse" or whatever they are called...then he can see what is actually written there and you two can discuss it objectively.
For instance if I say hey the bible says we are saved because of what Christ did for us and we can't "do" any works to get to heaven I would back it up like this:
Ephesians 2:8,9

There's no variations of the Qur'an as such, only different translations/interpretations are available... the original arabic text (1400 yrs old) is 100% the same.

Ofcourse, a translation/interpretation is not the actual thing... you will never see a Qur'anic recital in anything other than in the original arabic. I have never heard of conflicts over different translations of the Qur'an.
