David Gregory?  Keith Olbermann?  Dan Abrams?  Lester Holt?  Or a woman?

Hate to be so crass - but when Brokaw was going on about him being 'irreplaceable', my mother and I were like that man is replaced already.

Vid clips showed both Obama and McCain tripping over themselves to express what a friend he was etc.

As Meet The Press host? Who knows. They'll be hard pressed to find a guy who can grill guests like Russert.

Agreed Benny, and grill guests without being obviously partial to one particular party!
You got Olbermann, who is an angry condescending lefty and a few to match him on the other side on Fox.

We need someone who puts substance, professionalism and hard questions before party alliance, just like Russert did.  Though he was a democrat, he was very fair to guests on either side.  You need another host with that style and perspective.

Tim had a Democrat background but was a registered Independent.

I agree.  Olbermann?  Puh-leaze.  If they weren't so old, I'd say someone like George Will, James Lehrer, Brian Lamb, or Lou Dobbs. 

There's another guy whose name escapes me.  He does one-on-one interviews on his show.  What is his name??  ??  ??
