Does anyone have a hardwood or laminate or engineered wood floor in their bathroom? If so, how is it holding up to the moisture?
Also, in a room with a chair rail, would you paint the room 3 diff colors (above the rail, the trim, and below the rail) or just 2 (trim and wall)?

I think chair rail and two additional colors might be much, but that's my opinion.
I wouldn't do wood in the bathroom, too many issues with water damage. I have hard enough time keeping the main floors dry.

I don't know about the floor...I've got regular ole' linoleum.
I'd go with two colors... you could do trim and wall with the wall above and below the same color and then the trim the second color, or you could do the wall above the trim one color and the wall below the trim the same color as the trim. :)

Stella,
When we moved in I but ceramic tile in the hallway, kitchen and our main bathroom. In the master bath I used black and white granite. If you thinking about wood in a bathroom, it should be fine just make sure its sealed very well. Laminate might hold up better to be honest though.
Paint your ceiling flat white so it doesnt reflect too much light, but I agree with Mbell 3 colors is way to much.

No laminate or wood floors here either, but regarding the other. I think half paint and half wallpaper (print of some sort and pull one of the colors with paint above or below the chair rail. My dad had it in his dining room and I thought it looked really nice. I also had in one room a long time ago a chair rail, but the wood slats on the bottom. Someone had painted that a cream color and then put a matching cream wallpaper that had a tiny print on it above the chair rail and that looked really nice too. That was in my kitchen.

Two things i wouldn't recommed in a bathroom, carpet and laminate. hardwood will hold up better but still not a great idea. As for the chair rail. Yes you can do the 3 colors, but keeping with the darker colr on the bottom. perhaps just a shade or two from the other color

Excuse my sexism but when I read flooring the first thing that came to my mind was does the floor color match the drapes ;) :P
