Title: pull your head out of your butt.
Post by: Hugo Chavez on June 24, 2008, 04:04:39 AM
Do you really think it's only coincidence that gay marriage and other wedge type issues magically pop up in election years...  No, it's a bonified conspiracy.  Trust me, some set of assclowns will usually be behind the timing.  This crap only works when you let it work.  Unfortunately you let it work everytime and you engage in the argument rather than expose the reality of it for what it is.

Gay marriage isn't a wedge issue; it's a non-issue. There are many more important things, like changing our foreign policy and monetary system for example.

I think you missed the point that my point is your point ;)  What I am saying is ignore the issues there are more important issues and the only reason we're talking about it now is because it's an election year.  It is actually a wedge issue in that it is used to blind people from seeing the spectrum of issues and locking them on to one single issue black or white and going to the poll on that one issue.  They are essencially wedged.  Not only that it's a means to make sure a faction makes it to the polls in force.  You get them to think X is at stake and they're driven to the polls so it's a means to make sure X amount of psycho rightwing bigots show up in numbers. True enough.
