i started reading in the nineties, loved the whole alien-costume / venom saga.
The last issue i bought was when aunt may died, the some time later i also caught up on the Scarlet Spider.
A few days ago, i bought a giant artbook about spidey. I couldn't resist and it was only 6 euros.
Now WTF has happened??
Clone saga, Tony Stark designs a new costume, TWO relaunches, one where Peter Parker is a dork with a supermodel gf and one where he is only 15 years old?
I just read a brief summary in the artbook, but this sounds fucking cruel. The new costumes looked ok, but he seems to change back to the old model all the time.
I liked the black costume the best.
Does someone read Spider-Man comic books?
I would like to hear any opinions, personally i think the best times are gone.
-
Last time a read it was during the Scarlet Spider/Clone & Venome/Carnage saga. It got real shitty after that....

Venome / Carnage was where i lost interest.
I couldn't get any better after that.

Amazing how much the fucked up SPider Man III...
Well, i enjoyed all movies so far.
They are different from the comic, but who gives?
It's like going to a different pizza restaurant. You order the same pizza, but it tastes a bit different, not your favorite but still not bad though.
What i hated the most about the movie was the silver stripes on the black costume. Like i said, the black costume was the best ever.

I think the myth got killed by three of the worst movies of all time.

1 & 2 where great....3 SUCKED HARD!

I think the myth got killed by three of the worst movies of all time.
this is a little too harsh.
the movies are just different, the same goes for all Marvel movies.
Eg. The Punisher was pretty good, but reading the original Punisher War Zone is sooooo much better.
I liked The Hulk too, BECAUSE the story was so different from the comic book.
Daredevil sucked though. ;D

Get the Complete Collection on disk and read it at your leisure. "Every Issue through December 2006"!
http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Spider-Man-Complete-Comic-Collection/dp/B000HKIM7Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1215708087&sr=8-1
I have it and it's cool. If you want to sample a given issue send me an email with the issue # and I'll send you the PDF file. Every single issue is stored as a PDF file on the DVD-ROM.

I actually think that Spiderman 3 has got to be worst movie of all times. Somehow they were able to combine the worst acting, worst storyline, worst timing and worst movie cliches of all time with a huge hive of pathos and kitsch. Even the special effects were incedibly boring. It was the most dreadful movie experience of my life, I just hate it with a passion, I can't help myself. :-\

You people just expect too much. ;D ;D
It's just a movie. You watch it, and it has ZERO effect on reality. If you hate it, just forget it, if you like it, watch it again.
There is so much in real life that is far more interesting than movies, this should be your focus. ;D

oh never mind.
What do you think about the clone saga, Scarlet Spider, Iron Spider and so on?
The relaunches? The "manga"-style Spider-Man comic books?

Spinnenmann ist fuer die Katze; Fledermausmann hingegen.... ;D

Batman is okay, but only the Dark Knight series.
Both are exaggerated, but as Spider-Man has superpowers, it's easier to accept than Batman, who is "just an ordinary" human yet does Übermensch sort of things all the time.
I like Spider-Man better than Batman, although i like both.

Fledermausmann 2 laueft bald an....

What i really hated is when Marvel started splitting story lines between different comic books, so you had to buy "Amazing Spider-Man", "Web of Spider-Man", "Spider-Man", "The Hulk" and others to follow the story. Stories where even split up INSIDE one issue, so effectually you only had to read 5 pages in "Web of..." which totally sucked.

Genau das meinte ich...unter anderem...

Yes. You can print any single page or all pages from any issue.

Cool!
But what i mentioned above probably also goes for the box, right?
It only contains Amazing Spider-Man, so the stories that were split up are incomplete? Or did they fill them up?

You only get one title: The Amazing Spiderman. All the issues from 1963 through June of 2006. Including all the annual issues. Any related titles like Marvel Team-Up, Spectacular Spiderman, or crossover stories are not included.
This is true of the 40 Years of Xmen DVD; it includes all the Xmen issues and Annuals but no crossover titles/stories like the New Mutants, X-Factor, etc.

You missed the one where he is 15 year old and the Spiderman thing was like a Martial Artsy type of thing, the whole Venom thing was a cult of Ninjas, lead by Venom. They killed The Black Cat, just cut her in half. I think it was drawn by Humberto Ramos. Because it had a sorta Manga/ Joe Madareira type of style to it.
-
In the Spider-Man comic books, did The Sandman really kill Uncle Ben by mistake or was that just made up for the sake of a storline for Spider-Man 3? ???

Are you fucking kidding me???
That cannot be true.
Did they hire Flex Wheeler for the storyline or what??
Read too much Dragonball?
WTF?
-
Actually, the most recent is not him at 15.
He's still an adult in his mid 20s... He just always lived with Aunt May and he never married Mary Jane.
Basically, during the Marvel "Civil War", he was with Tony Stark and the government, then in the middle... he flipped. Everyone knew who he was and the Kingpin put a hit out on MJ... but Aunt May got caught in the cross fire.
He said he's do anything to have one more day with Aunt may and some ethereal creature (I think it was Madam Web or some crap) gave him Aunt may back, but losing MJ and the last 20 (Our time) years.
That's where we are now.
Yes, it sucks and was one of the dumbest things Marvel has done ever... Killing Captain America is number 1 on my list right now.

I cry my eyes out, this sounds like total shit... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Some fucking fairytale.
I always hated the stuff that got too exotic like timetravel, other galaxies and stuff. :'( :'( :'(

WTF?
Yeah, I picked it because of that storyline...Venom was head of a clan of Ninjas, and they all wore this weird spider insignia on their chests and backs. Spiderman was a skinny teenager (almost preteen). It was drawn in a kinda Graffiti-Manga style that was kinda cool. Spiderman was from the Spider-clan
Here ya go....

There is only the amazing spiderman issue out currently. I think it comes out every week and is under the "brand new day" umbrella.
I'm up to date on the issues - the storylines really need a good writer. So far i'm not impressed.

these american mangas suck.
I love mangas, read a lot of them. They are dirt cheap, have a lot more pages than these tiny american comic books and some of them are really really awesome.
But these american "shit-mangas-sell-better-than-batman-lets-maks-a-batman-manga" suck ass.

I think Marvel was mis Joe Madureira skillz. Because he was one who put Uncanny X-men on the map. His style was second to none, and then he went on to to his own comic "BattleChasers", which never came out on time...

If you are talking about "BattleChasers", yeah, Joe had a problem with deadlines, even when he was at Marvel doing the UnCanny X-Men, he had a problem meeting Marvel's deadlines. His comic would have been a classic, and chances are it would have been made into a movie or two, had he stayed on it.
