Tony Snow, a conservative writer and commentator who cheerfully sparred with reporters in the White House briefing room during a stint as President Bush's press secretary, died early Saturday of colon cancer. Snow was 53 years old."Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, Tony Snow," Bush said in a statement. "The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character."
Snow, who served as the first host of the television news program "Fox News Sunday" from 1996 to 2003, would later say that in the Bush administration he was enjoying "the most exciting, intellectually aerobic job I'm ever going to have."
Snow was working for Fox News Channel and Fox News Radio when he replaced Scott McClellan as press secretary in May 2006 during a White House shake-up. Unlike McClellan, who came to define caution and bland delivery from the White House podium, Snow was never shy about playing to the cameras.
With a quick-from-the-lip repartee, broadcaster's good looks and a relentlessly bright outlook — if not always a command of the facts — he became a popular figure around the country to the delight of his White House bosses.
"It was a joy to watch Tony at the podium each day. He brought wit, grace, and a great love of country to his work," Bush said. "His colleagues will cherish memories of his energetic personality and relentless good humor."

Explain how Tony Snow and Bush have helped to maintain our lifestyles. He was a part of something that has put us in massive debt.
Past administrations always pulled strings in the Middle East behind the scenes; like the Mohammed Mossadeg and BP situation and putting the Shah in power so to prevent Iran from nationalizing its own oil industry in the 60's. That helped to build the American lifestyle while the Iraq shit is working to ruin it.

I'd say pre-emptive wars of aggression, yorture and the elimination of habeas corpus have pretty much destroyed what it traditionally meant to be an American. Is life style and standard of living to be reduced to how many toys one has. I thought you quackopractors believed in a positive life force.

Those are some big words "Leon" but it wasn't preemptive as the majority of congress voted on it and not only did the US think there was WMD's but so did the world. Pull your head out of you're ass.

Tony told a lot of lies and was part of the machine that did some horrible thigns for greater longterm US interests. You're both right. Rest in Peace... he did his job and played his position and did a job he loved.
Remember Snow's bigger place in history - 5 days after 911, as the host of Fox Sunday Morning, he got Condi Rice to admit that on 9/11, there was someone in the white house with coded terminology who was involved in the hijackings. Snow asked "a mole?", and Condi wouldn't admit to that, but she did say that someone on the inside leaked coded terminology that came in a threat AFTER the 19 hijackers are dead.
In the bigger scheme of history, Tony Snow got Condi to admit that someone in the white house was involved. In 100 years, that piece of info will matter more than anything else.
