I wonder why he'd schedule a surgery like this during precontest.
High blood glucose cause blindness. I hope Jay never chooses to dabble in insulin.
-
why does he have to wear muscletech shirts everywhere ::)
-
great photoshop ;D
-
it's Jay inherent quality to make even a boring occasion seem more dull!
-
I guess this means he won't be squinting any more.
-

Actually....I was thinking that too....but only for the fact that you cant train for about two weeks post surgery. Thats what derailed my prep for an August show. No cardio....no training.

It could be he just wrapped up his guest posings and this was the only time.
Definitely odd timing, this close to the Olympia. He'll be sidetracked for at least a week, definitely.

The procedure is not that intrusive, it's recommended instead of glasses or contacts for road cyclists. You can get back on the bike after 6 hours. I don't think it will be that much different for Jay.

epic disinformation

I wouldn't get lasik... why go through that and risk something going wrong and having your vision fucked when contacts correct you to 20/20?

The risk for an infection is 1/10000, and there is no documented infection where the sight was lost. Lasik is very safe.

There have been many reports of the surgery being done wrong, where people end up with blurry or double vision, or fucked-up night vision. The 1 in 10k odds sound right, but that's little consolation to you if you're the 1. Again, if contacts correct you to 20/20, why bother?

With a real pro, the risk is extremely small. the risk for infection seems to be the greatest risk, and that's about 1/10000. The newer computer programs for the lasers are very good, with a low error rate. And a bad surgery can even be fixed.
Contacts carry with them a risk of infection as well, but it seems to be mostly related to how they are used (which = the same with lasik as well, the competency of the doctor and the equipment used).
If you are the 1 that get's an infection, the literature seems to indicate that the risk of getting a permanent eye injury from that infection = very low.
Contacts suck, they are uncomfortable, and the risks in total with a lasik surgery performed by a pro with the best equipment = so small that it's worth it in Debusseys opinion.

I've worn them forever, and they don't bother me at all. And with disposables these days, they aren't a hassle because there's no cleaning or anything involved.
-
I love Mazi!
MattC had a Lasik surgery in 2004, and his sight went from sucky to great.
-
what does lasik cost these days? I have astigmatism, so I'm not sure if its more compelx

They have a print magazine as well...maybe they wanted to wait until they could put out both at reletively the same time..?

pretty awful, how about you?

Print magazine or not, Flex have always been close to useless at getting info out in anything that resembles a timely manner. Furthermore, the content, and I believe photo quality, they put out has steadily deterioated over the last 20 years or so.
