Title: Kamali seems like a changed man since the birth of his daughter
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on July 14, 2008, 12:21:05 PM
I've noticed how the tone of Kamali's artciles in MM have calmed down a lot.  He seems more humble in himself and less criticle of others.  His change in attitude seems to have happened with the birth of his daughter.  I think fatherhood has made him look at BB differently and that the contest isn't really him against others but it's doing the best that you can do yourself.  Props to the guy for growing up a lot in the past while and not getting into some of those crap issues that he has in the past.

But he's still better than everyone else in the world, correct??? That does mean we shouldn't criticize him on the forum... with our pens and pencils as he so eloquently attacked us... :D

That's cool if he has mellowed out. He needed a serious fucking attitude adjustment. He can be an intelligent man when he lets himself. Often times his "holier than thou" attitude just drove more and more nails in his coffin though. I wouldn't be surprised if people didn't give a shit. But I for one am optimistic. Can't go through life bein' sour grapes. :)

He's still the same, a leopard doesn't change it's spots. Because he has since the birth of his daughter, still acted like a pompous idiot. And yeah, his marriage is destined to end in a few years, once the girl gets older and his wife get older.
Some may view this as a negative post, but I for one, am curious as to what makes you think someone cannot change?

I don't know Kamali personally, and a couple people I talk to at the gym said he was rude, however he was training, so maybe he was short because of that.

Regardless, he is making an effort here to come back and start posting again and as long as he is positive, he is welcome here, you on the other hand, with your negative attitude....may be on thin ice. ;)

Hey Chaos, since yor a mod I will give you an honest answer and not because King and I are friends. I have NEVER seen him be rude to anyone. He always has time even when he is a a competition to sign an autograph, get his picture taken and talk to anyone. So when you hear that "someone" said that he was rude don't put much stock in it. Remember that this is Getbig, a fictitious land where 99% of the posters are not real.  :D

AAAAAAAHHHHHH, you.......well this experience happened in Koloseum, so it's not an internet thing, I wasn't there so I don't know details, but two guys told me he kind of brushed them off when they approached him (at different times)......like I said he was training so, to me, they should have waited until he was done.

I haven't had an personal experience with him, so this is all heresay.....he could be the nicest guy in the world, I haven't met him.  8)

Personally I think that it's not a good idea to approach anyone a couple of days out from s show while they are training. I would most likely tell them (politley) to let me train and not talk to me so yeah we agree. I'm just saying that I have seen him at shows and he was the only guy who would stick around to talk to his fans.

Here a little story for all of you. Back in 2006 at the Montreal Pro Show going into the evening show King was talking abou how he couldn't wait to get out of there so he could eat and get some sleep. By the end of the show I was also wanting to get the hell out of there. Just being there all day is tiring. Anyway, after the show king grabbed his stuff and as we were walking out he said he wanted to sign some pics for his fans. So much for getting back early.  ;D but I figured nothing wrong with making some cash and seeing the fans. He went up to one of the vendors and asked if he could sit at one of  the tables. King ended up signing rougly 50 color pics for fans and gave them out for free. I think he sold about 5 DVDs and this took about an hour. He was the only guy who stayed to do this, not that anyone else is obligated to do this, but from the way guys talk about him on here you would  he would be the last guy you would think woul do this.

Well see if you can get him back here posting a bit more often in The Positive Board and he can show us all what a nice guy he is.

He should probably stay off the G&O though, those guys are assholes ;D

I'll mention it to him. I' msure he wouldn't mind popping in once in a while. I don't think tha he will be posing on the G%O board anytime soon. He's still consulting with his lawyer about suing Rob.  ;D

I think it's just because paper and electronics are such faceless mediums... some people speak their mind which is cool, if done respectfully. Others talk shit. I can get vocal too, and when I read my posts after I "LOL" because of how much I spaz out. I don't care though, I don't come and apologize, I just tell people I don't give a shit, sometimes I may actually say sorry and just laugh it off.

Then you've got other guys who make death threats and take this shit seriously... those dudes need to chill out. I think the King's a little like myself. If someone takes this shit REAL seriously, they need to have their head checked and their baby bottles warmed up. I would sit down with King, talk a little bodybuilding and enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandywag with no hostility. At the end of the day, I'm sure he's a decent enough guy. At least he's not selling fake GH or ratting on people. He just calls it like he sees it and doesn't give a shit. I make fun of him all the time but if I were in his position, I'd probably act the same (online at least - I've also heard that fans with the cojones to talk to him IRL meet a kinder King).

Doesn't matter. With jelly or without jelly. Some prefer syrup... :o

Kamali is a changed man...A really GOOD MAN, passionate about EVERYTHING IN LIFE that matters to him...
And he is unbelievably driven person whom I learned to admire and respect.

We had our differences - as we didn't know each other...and that is the problem many of you guys here have...
If you know each other - you would probably all ge along instead of "F-OFFing" everyone just for saying hello....

I used to refuse to call Kamali a "King"...calling him any fanny name I could come up with (Camel King was my favorite - as Camel in my language is: Kamila...) but as you probably noticed by now - I am calling him - what he is...A KING!

Hey King of all Camels - how is your...well...a...Camel Toe? ;D

At least in real life, if someone claims to be a changed person I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Life is a lot more relaxing when you don't hold grudges. But if someone goes back on their word or demonstrates otherwise, I cut them right off. I will waste no more energy with that individual, positive or negative. Just not worth it.

If Milos can step up to the plate and say that they've dropped their beef, that's admirable if it's true. He's got a child now so I certainly hope he's not preoccupied by arguing with fucks on message boards and shitting his pants in a whiny fury in the mags. I wish him, his wife and his new child all the best, even if he's still an asshole lol

I met King at the Eastern USA a few years ago..................rea l cool guy!!

He shot the shit with me,we took a couple pics, and gave me a free autographed 8 x 10.

The reason he acted like he did on here is because he got too much shit from trolls...............any one would get pissed at some of the comments that were directed to him.

Anyone who has ever made a comment on the G&O can vouch for that statement Wes. Even the most innocent comment gets a barrage of negative reactions. At first you are taken aback, but eventually you react negatively, or choose to avoid it all together. It's a pity since this board offered a real opportunity to interact with the major players in this business.

So who can blame King. Responding all day to negativity just wastes your time, and certainly doesn't make you a better person.

I love to hear from people that say they "heard" I was an asshole to someone etc.... You see, there is no defense on my behalf. If "they" said it, then it must be true, right? All that baby shit is way behind me. Just to set the record straight for one last time.. I don't take shit from anyone and to gain my respect you have to earn it. I've met too many snakes in my life (ex. Shawn Ray) to ever drop my guard. I will always be King Kamali... Fuck the haters!

Now that being said, the two men that have put the love of bodybuilding back into my heart are Disgusted and Milos. Disgusted is my best friend and someone I would trust my life with. I have never met a man with more passion for helping others than Jim. He would never lie to me and he knows what I'm capable of. On the other side we have the great one, Milos. NOBODY ON THIS PLANET knows the science of this sport better than this freak. Milos can take a nuclear biologist and run circles around him.. PERIOD! This man has met all the great ones and I would bet my house that if you asked him who has the biggest heart and trains the hardest he will have King Kamali on top of that list. Yes, having a daughter has changed me..

Since I had my angel I have dedicated my life to her. I am a couple of weeks away from opening a State of the Art SPA/Wellness European Salon here in NY dedicated to my daughter which will be hers when she turns 18. Disgusted and I are working together on a HUGE project that will turn the bodybuilding world upside down.  ;)  I've taken everything I learned from Milos and Jim and put it together to bring the absolute best King to the AC Pro. My life is complete. I wish the best life has to offer for you all. As I had said before, going through life as a faceless hater on these boards just putting down professional athletes is just plain pathetic. For every one of these idiots do you guys know how many hundreds of true iron warriors I have help win their classes or just get into shape.. It would blow your minds. King,

Great to hear about your adventures! I wish you great success.

I live in upstate NY (Syracuse) and look forward to seeing you onstage someday. Maybe Chick can get you to guest pose next year in Rochester, NY.

As for the negative comments you hear, it's an unfortunate consequence of being successful. No matter how much good you do, someone is always trying to tear you down. I guess its how they compensate for their sad lives.

Good luck with the family. When my son was born, it changed everything, and it was for the better! Now my daughter, she is a handful :P

Welcome back Kamali, feel free to start threads and post your pics here when it comes time. This board is heavily moderated and you will not get the attacks like other areas of getbig.

Good luck with your business ventures, it's a rough economy.

And like Chaos said above, feel free to post here, it would be quite welcomed.

Lastly, we met at the 06 olympia at the muscletech booth, and id have to say that you were definetely one of the most down to earth and HONEST people ( not just bb'ers ) that i met that weekend. So dont pay attention to the bullshit.

Anyone can change. I have seen in. Since 1991, when I started getting into bodybuilding via ABB Products and Science Foods Products, I have met and see a lot of different people in the industry.

People who were very arrogant, very tough and not cool have changed, because as you get older, you learn that not everything needs to be a confrontation, not everything needs to be a baseless attack.

Melvin Anthony David Henry, Nasser El Sonbaty, and especially Flex Wheeler. People can and do change in life. And many others. Most of them for the good. And yes, some not so good.

As for Kamali, people need to see the persona vs the real person sometimes. Sometimes it is hard to see the difference. Behind the pro bodybuilder is a real person, and the birth of a child definately changes someone.

Honestly, for me, it changed my life completely, kids. You just can't run anymore somewhere. You need to have patients, and you give your all to your children.  Each night, when I am home, I try to read, spend time, have fun.

Good luck at the AC! See you soon.

This is so true.  Not to compare him to Kamali or any Pro for that matter, but another great example of the person versus the personna is Billy Guns, an internet legend.  ;D

He may be a big shit-talker on the internet, but in real life, Billy is someone who is always friendly, honest, helpful, and would give you the shirt off his back.  My husband and I both consider him a dear friend.  :)

What about me King ??? Am I one of your best friends??  :-*

Any way, I really start hate people and all bodybuilders because no body wanna help. Even if you help the beginners, they will talk shit about you later. All what see from people is killing from behind my back. They always forget you and what you did for them. Even you King and I'm really sorry to say that but what about if I come to you and ask you for some help, will you help?? I don't think so and I'm really sorry to say that but you are gonna say like what Milos and the other bodybuilders said to me, " KEEP ASKING". They forgot that I'm asking them now for help.

bro King Kamali, bodybuilding is all about your relationship with the fans because without your help we will never ever see any more bodybuilders. If we love this sport, we have to keep up our help to people around us. Remember that you got a help from some one when you started your career.

Take care King and I hope I'll meet you sometime.

Maybe Billy can have a Q and A on this board?

Nobody is hatin' on Kamali, pure and simple. In order to Hate on someone, one must be doing something for someone to hate on. See Kamali circa 2001. Let's not talk about change, how about growing up and seeing what life truly is worth, and the mistakes one made.

If what has been said is true (no illusion), then then a hater has taken it change their position to be be on another level.

Now, I do apologize for sounding negative.

But King should apologize for his childish tirades and using Getbig as a medium for such...

How about no apologies from anyone, it's a fresh start, leave it at that.

I just think it would be nice if Shari issued a statement, perhaps even in a magazine as well as on here, apologizing for all the bad things he has said about Getbig.  :)

If everyone apologized for their past, this placed would be flooded with apology threads.

Think you could get The Squad back together? They have a long list of apologies to hand out. ;D

I don't think he needs to apologize for anything.  A lot of shit is said on the G&O so apologies are required in both directions which in my opinion make it a wash.  So it's time to move on.  It's nice that King can post here.  Hopefully he can stop answering questions about the past and start answering training and nutrition tips moving forward.  It's great getting insight on other things other than negative shit.

Yogi,  How were you and ABB associated?  I don't know much about your history, just curious.

Hate gets you no where.. love gets you peace. I am 8 weeks out from the AC.. hold on to your butts!

Welcome back king!  What happened?  You said that Milos and Disg put the love back into your heart?  What happened to take it away?  What events occured?  It's cool though that you're back in the game.
Hopefully you'll stick around and maybe participate in an ask King Q&A thread.

I disagree, he bashed Getbiggers for a long while and now he is coming back like nothing happened. He should issue a formal apology.

Are you the official rep for getbig?  Please keep your rants on the G&O board.  If you have nothing nice to say here then please go away.

Some may view this as a negative post, but I for one, am curious as to what makes you think someone cannot change?

I don't know Kamali personally, and a couple people I talk to at the gym said he was rude, however he was training, so maybe he was short because of that.

Regardless, he is making an effort here to come back and start posting again and as long as he is positive, he is welcome here, you on the other hand, with your negative attitude....may be on thin ice. ;)

I have been Kings training partner for the past 4 years since he has moved to my town.  He is far from rude. Every single day the man goes out of his way to give training and dieting tips to complete strangers. He would give the shirt off his back if needed.  I have seen him do all of these things even being 1 week out and starving his ass off....  He may have came off brash in the past but not a single time since I have know him...   People saying he is rude is pure speculation or some kind of deep seeded hate. Plain and simple.

I've met the guy once at an after hours nightclub in Baltimore once. He's not an asshole. Very cool guy and very respectful. Never got around to asking him why he was in Baltimore of all places, though. This was about 5 or 6 years ago.

Nevertheless, a nice guy, IMO.
