With the USA Championships coming up in LV the last weekend of this month (July 08), some of this might be of interest to you guys and gals looking for a good meal while in town. Here are some suggestions with price ratings attached....
$ = Cheap and good
$$ = Reasonable and good
$$$= Expensive and good
Feel free to chip in if I've overlooked some that you would like to recommend
1. ($) Ellis Island on Koval Lane behind Paris Hotel and Casino. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) - This is definitely not a fancy place but I've never had a meal there I didn't appreciate. And the price is among the lowest in town. And if you are real polite and sit up real nice and straight and quit picken your nose, they'll even throw in huge mug of complimentary home-made beer. Everything on the menu is worthwhile but I personally prefer the Roast Beef. It's not the kind of roast beef you find at Lawrey's or the House of Prime Rib but it ranks up there among the best in town among the less expensive dining spot. If you want the Steak Special, you gotta ask for it or point to in on the menu as it is usually not advertised anyplace. (I understand they do this "non-advertised special" stuff at the Hard Rock Hotel steak house too so it's best to ask about the Special at any restaurant you visit in LV. It's usually the best deal on any menu even when it's not listed on that menu.
2. ($$) PF Chang in the Hard Rock Hotel Casino and other other various LV locations - I prefer the one on Paradise across the street from Terrible's Hotel Casino. If you are Chinese and love your mom's home made cooken, you ain't gonna like PF Chang's. It's got a Chinese name and sort of a Chinese menu but the great food they serve ya is definitely not Chinese. I call it an attempt to copy Chinese cooking. A great attempt! I love this place and recommend it highly. Start out with a big bowl of their Won-ton soup ..... one order is enough for three or four and then one of the egg roll selections, followed up the entree of your choice. Best idea to have everyone order a different entre and share them all around the table.
Be right back.....

On Friday go to Garduno's at Palms for lunch. The pool party called "ditch friday" will be going on so you can pig out on a burrito with a beer while you watch some fine tail at the pool since you can sit on the patio pool side!!!
Hope this helps... ;)

Chile dog at the walk up booth in New York New York. I actually am very serious, they are damn good for a quick bite.
-
3. ($$$) Foundation Room at the house of blues on top of the Mandalay Bay.
I always eat there one evening when I'm in Vegas.
-
$$ The steak house inside of circus circus is not bad.. Your looking at $50 a plate but that is about the only thing worth a shit in the whole damn casino.. we used to eat there at least 1 a month.
The RIO Buffet is the spot to go for all you can eat...
-
I recommend the Grand Lux Cafe' inside the Venetian. Portions are huge (They are owned by the same company as Cheesecake Factory) and prices are reasonable.
-
I liked the buffet at the Bellagio. Great if your a sea food lover.

I'm sitting here and really tryin to think
of where to eat, and I live here in Vegas.
Now, down the strip in the hotels, there is all
kind of great stuff. (Most) of it is expensive.
The buffets are mostly shit. If you/anyone knows of
a good one, I'm all ears. The Red Rock is the best one I've
been too. It even beats the Wynn.
There is a nice cafe in the Venetion, I don't know the name,
the Rose cafe I think.
New York New York has Chin Chins which is really good, I like it
better than PF Changs. And there is a fantastic steakhouse across from it
as well.

Of all those mentioned above I gotta totally agree with a couple of dining spots I go to often:
A. Peppermill - Great meals, huge portions, sort of on the high price end for a coffee shop but not anything like Circus Circus Steak House. Go into the bar and see if you can remember a scene shot in there for "Casino".
B, Circus Circus Steak House - Probably the only reason to go in that dump. Great food and service and great atmosphere. Too bad it's not closer to the entrance. But for roughly about the same price you should try Charlie Palmer's in the Four Seasons (Mandalay Bay).
C. Garduno's in the Palms - Try the Tri Colores plate. I like the Palms and eat here often. Much better than the Pink Taco in Hard Rock.
Not mentioned yet but if you're looking for a great Dagwood type sandwich, give the place in the back of the Golden Gate on Fremont Street a try. Good and cheap shrimp cocktails and great sandwiches and sometimes even a decent piano player hitting the keys.
Over there by the contest site is Lawry's House of Prime Rib ($$$) and Roy's ($$$). Both very good. Neither of which is a quick fix so don't plan to eat at one of these places if you are in a hurry to get to the contest. And they are usually closed when the finals are over.
Anyone got any late night dining suggestions within the UH area? The finals is usually over around 11 PM and most of the fans and all of he contestants are hungry for a good meal. I usually refer everyone to the Peppermill but that means a trip down the Strip on a Saturday night (not a great idea unless you gotta go there to get back to your hotel anyway). Closest late night place to the contest site is the Hard Rock but the food there leaves a lot to be desired. Any other late night suggestions? Places that are reasonably accessable on a late Saturday night.

If you have a car and a bit of time the Hash House has some of the biggest food portions you'll find. I grubbed on that a couple weeks ago while out for the UFC fights and it was a monsterous meal.

We just moved from there 2 years ago.. It was really hard to get some good ideas... I agree with whoever said Fatburger. That is the first stop when we hit town even if it's at 4 am. The Rio buffet is the best in town. It has everything you could ever think of... It's expensive but if you can eat you can get your money out of it, the seafood is always good as well.

Go visit Titus in the slammer and grab something from the lobby vending machines. Perhaps a Zagnut bar & a Dr Pepper.
-
The All-You-Can-Eat Sushi/Sashimi Bar at MAKINO is out of this world. I believe there are at least two of these restaurants in Vegas. Lunch is the best deal, it's less than $20, and the buffet goes all the way around the restaurant, half sushi and half cooked Japanese food.
Also the Salty Chicken at Sam Woo's in Chinatown is to die for.
Makino and Sam Woo's are MUST STOPs in Vegas... neither are located on the strip or in a hotel, but you can find them easily with a phone book.

Tommy, I had good intents to take your advice this Friday but Now I am definitely not going to be there in LV for the Titus court appearance due to a definite and important commitment in Los Angeles viewing a wide variety of cacti within the area of Topanga Canyon. And if I told ya more about that I'd have to kill ya.
BTW - You do owe me a $100 but I think we got to wait until what transpires on Friday (18 July).

Hey Keith... Hi Stunt...
Hey I'll absolutely be at the Olympia in Sept. You each get a hundy or a Fremont St. hooker (I'd take the cash). ;D
Keith, who's going to get you? ;) I think you'll be OK.
Tommy
Delmonico is my favorite steak house in Vegas, FWIW.
VooDoo Lounge is the #1 view, IMO.
Best place to find 24hr hookers, Center bar at the Rio.

Tommy I was kidding I could care less about a bet on the internet. I am not that desperate for money. It was all in fun for all I care. And don't worry I am not worried about anyone trying to get me.
