Title: MD to stop all Athlete contracts ... including Dennis Wolf?
Post by: Ex Coelis on July 14, 2008, 04:05:53 PM
well not yet, but John Romano posted the following on MD

"assuming his prep continues unflawed, If Wolfe gets the shit beat out of him in favor of the Weider promotion of Dex and Jay, I am going to advise the boss that we cancel all athlete contracts. I think they are becoming a hinderance more than a help. There will be plenty of athletes left over to shoot. Weider can't afford to sign everyone just to keep them away from us."

sounds like an empty threat but it would be an interesting move. would it work?

he goes on to include:

"It should be the best man wins, not who's paid their dues and what political action is involved. If it's such a problem for MD guys to get the nod because Weider is promoing their guys then we should just dump all our athletes for their own good."

If they fired SiouxCountry, they'll fire anyone.

Just tell Steve to fire everyone with a felony record...  that would trim their payroll costs quite a bit  (like 95%  :D).

signing bodybuilders to magazine contracts makes no sense.  Thats like if Brett Favre signed with the Sporting News.  Foolish I say.

All talk... but Dennis Wolfe might place in the top three at the Olympia, and he looks good.  Steve Blechman and his magazines do put a lot of money into contests and athletes, and that is good for the sport.

I agree.

In the long run these guy's are really f**king themselves. They have banned and pissed-off 90% of the bodybuilding fans from their "bodybuilding forum" and think these people will still buy their magazine. I could keep going on and on but there is no need to.

It is evident, the people at MD have no idea what they are doing. They clearly do not how to treat people or run a business.

Now they are the threatening the pro bodybuilders.

Unf**kingreal.

Steve Blechman does great things for the athletes. He does features on all of the top amateurs and pros who would otherwise remain unknown

Kai Greene is a perfect example. W/out MD, Kai would not have had the exposure that landed him such acclaim and supplement contracts. When Blechman signed him to the magazine, it gave him the financial stability he needed to take his physique to the level it's at today

And what about Silvio? MD was the first magazine to do a feature on him right after his pro debut.

The list goes on and on. MD and Steve Blechman are/were the only people to actually pay bbers for photoshoots; shoots by PER BERNAL, the best physique photographer HANDS DOWN.

If MD were to drop their athletes, it would be out of genuine concern for the athlete's career. Many people on the boards love to speculate about politics regarding Weider/Muscletech athletes vs. MD athletes and their placings at major contests. John Romano is proposing dropping their biggest athletes so that they can avoid being unfairly judged. If anything, that's an incredibly selfless act!

It's like the saying "If you love someone, let them go"

MD may help athletes get extra $$$ through their own contracts or exposure for others, but don't believe for 1 second they are doing it for the athletes and not their own financial gain.

Romano even said on here they write content that sells magazines which is why they arn't 'all natural' anymore.

Normally i would say anything to win in business is the way to go, but not saying one thing and then doing a fucking 180 and saying the opposite. You cannot trust anyone like that.

You have no clue how much Blechman actually puts into body building shows and with the "athletes". He supports silently and some well known. Romano is writing in the hypothetical, can't you see that?

seriousley, you people are such morons. He said if Wolf places bad it would be better for him if he were not associated with MD, couse thats what is lowering his placings.

Really? How much did he put into real bodybuilding shows when MD were 'all natural'? and bashing the hell out of Dorian and the rest of the top bodybuilders.

Was Romano injecting roids when they were 'all natural' as well?

They are a business. Cut the bullshit. They apparantly do
