Why do you care so much about US politics and why not ever discuss your own countries politics on here? Also, how would you like it if people from around the world sat on here and made fun of your little countries or Islands or whatevers leaders? Why not show respect for other countries like we Americans show respect for your countries?

I only come on this board to try and groom Nordic.

I only come on this board to try and groom Nordic.
It pisses me off how the foreigners of this board are so damn disrespectful of Americans. Bush and McCain are good men, why disrespect them when you are not even an American? You don't see Americans talking about other countries politicians disrespectfully on here.

With 90% of the users Yanks, stories about non-US countries just don't penetrate. If they did I assume you'd be the first to bitch and moan that there is too much foreign crap and that you "don't care about country xxx".
Would you like the freedom of speech to be limited to non-Yanks on here? Maybe we should not be allowed to criticise the US?
-

Big presentage would not have a clue about what we're talking about.
Also, how would you like it if people from around the world sat on here and made fun of your little countries or Islands or whatevers leaders?
Then they would, what about it.
Why not show respect for other countries like we Americans show respect for your countries?
Because it is a prerogative of the children and the fool to speak the truth
-
If we don't want citizens of other countries to care about our political system, maybe we should stop giving them a reason to. Kind of silly to play rule the world and expect them to just shut the fuck up if they don't like it.

Got to agree with beardy here. When you're the only true superpower, you've got to expect other nations to take an interest in your politics etc.

What the fuck do Americans know about other countries and their politics?

Ummmm in case you haven't realized the U.S. especially its foreign policy and economy affects EVERYONE in the world and to a very large degree. Bush and McCain are good men? America is an empire whos tentacles reach just about everywhere in the world. How would you feel if say Russia or China controlled the U.S.? You do understand the term "dollar hegemony"?
-
The US govt and the US media lack integrity, they put our business out for international scrutiny and this is what we get.
We are definetly a nation of loose lips, nothing is sacred in the USA.
Like my momma said: Never talk ill of your family (Americans) to non-family (Non-Americans) and then get pissed when they talk ill about your family to you.
I feel you on this but we give them alot of material.
My 2 peso worth.
-
What the fuck do Americans know about other countries and their politics?
The majoriity knows nada! We allow our media to think for us. Most people in the US don't even know about our own govt/politics or leaders.
-
Hahaha, look at the fish take the bait hook, line and sinker. It's too easy for some people.
-
Bush and McCain are good men
They're not.........
At all.
-
Bush and McCain are good men, why disrespect them when you are not even an American?
lmao! ::)
-
For one, techically speaking, one can't say I'm not American anyway, as I have full legal rights there through marriage anyway as an aside. That said, the US interjects massively into world affairs, whether we think it is good or bad - thats fact. They have full time staff here, interject into our domestic affairs like clockwork. Therefore what they do impacts us. If they butted out of my business, I would would butt out of theirs. I could not care about Canada's politics for example [past a brief look] as they do not interject into my national business, so has no impact on me.
As far as people commenting, my country has been smashed left, right and center on getbig [not politics really, more worldy folk here] as people seem to assume I am from some backward place where I sit under palm trees all day in a grass skirt ::)
And lastly, it's called going with the flow. I am pretty sure no one gives a rats ass about my islands politics, so why bore everyone with threads about it. Most folks here are American - so fair enough, we discuss what is most interesting to all regs.
-
CQ where are you from?

I was going to reply, ...but pretty much everything I was going to say has been said already in this thread, and in some cases, probably with far more diplomacy than I most likely could ever muster {lol} so I will simply address this one point that hasn't yet been covered. Danielson, please don't take it personally. A criticism levelled at Bush or McCain is a criticism of Bush or McCain. I know alot of people seem to identify with others, and see any criticism or praise of those they identify with, as a criticism or praise of themselves, ...but it's not. Trust me on this. When a football player wins the heisman trophy, it's his. I don't get to take his trophy home with me, and basking with pride or the "glow of victory" isn't mine... no matter how hard I may have rooted for him. By the same token, when a politician you support messes up or causes controversy, it's his baggage to own. Please don't try to take it personally. (guilty consciences not withstanding)
Try to Have a Great Day! :D
ps: Some of us may not be American, but we have many loved ones and family members who are.
I myself have a tonne of relatives who are all American and I am concerned for their future. I just recently heard from my favourite cousin who has recently surfaced. He works for the State Dept and has been serving his country for years overseas on assignment in the ME. For the past 7 yrs we didn't know if he was dead or alive. Thankfully he's no longer in the ME and is now working at a US embassy overseas. The decisions made by US leaders affect not only every person on the planet, but also the lives of Americans, both at home and abroad. So there is cause for concern. As well too, in other countries there is a tendency for the population to be more politically active as well as informed about issues regarding their neighbours on this planet, more so than the US population.
pps - There's a lot of disrespect being shown on these boards, far more than needs to be and the majority of us have been guilty of this at one time or another myself included, ...some to a greater degree than others.
ppps - Neither Bush nor McCain are NOT America. Dislike of those men does not equal the hatred of America.
-

I don't know if I'd say they were "good men".
None the less, I agree that if you're not an American, why do you give a shit... If you hate America so much, then stop buying our stuff, tell your governments that are so great to stop doing business with us and we can in turn, remove our treaties with your governments and you can enjoy whatever war comes your way alone next time.
There is NOTHING that says you have to deal with us, or us with you if you don't want to.
-
Kind of silly to play rule the world and expect them to just shut the fuck up if they don't like it.
This is priceless! I'm quoting this for posterity!

I think this portion of your post has already been addressed rather succinctly earlier in the thread. If you choose not to listen to non-Americans, I think you'll also find a few responses from Americans there as well.

Ummm, ...a few countries have tried that ... they've since been bombed, had US paid terrorists wage chaos and war on their civilian populations, poisoning little children by substituting their powdered milk with cement, raping nuns etc., etc., etc., the list is endless.

I'm sure the US couldn't possibly force the entire rest of the world to do our bidding if they chose not to.
Are you saying that the US is SOOOO powerful that every other country on the planet couldn't tell us no together?
Wow... Who knew?
Serious question... Do you buy American made goods? If so? Then why?

I do care because it will affect my countrie's economic decissions , but im cool with the politics about bombing crazy people around the world (i wont mention who exactly because ron will call me racist and put me in timeout probably).
By the way, i feel your pain, the world hated our great commie killer leader for getting ride of the commie plague back in the days, but the history will show the world it was needed :)

I believe he will as well... I think the younger generation just connects more with him and will come out in droves to his side.
I just don't see McCain being able to handle that kind of political assault.
It reminds me very much of the 1992 campaign and how Bill won it.

He may very well be the next President, and that's fine with me. I just don't understand why all these non-Americans are bashing a great war hero like McCain. I can honestly say I don't care who is the Prime Minister of England for example. I just don't see why foreigners care about our politics.

i will tell you why, he just looks frail, useless, he stutters, he mumbles, he loves war, his not cool.. the world has had enough of War, Barack wont and cannot change things overnight but he seems more with it then McCain..

Like I said before... Tell your governments to not deal with us.
We don't want US interference and have asked many times for them not to. Took us 20 years to get the military bases out of here, which we never wanted anyway was taken basically. They barge down here, make proclamations, little we can do. Same issue all micro-nations have. Like I said, when my business is not poked into constantly, then I will not poke in anyone elses. It is irrational to expect me to suffer constant interjections and make no comment.

Do you also comment regularly on the People's Republic of China... I'm sure they impact a great deal of your life as well from an economic standpoint, but I don't see a lot of bashing of them.

I can tell you that the younger generation has no grasp of politics for the most part. A perfect example was in one of my massive lectures last semester. My professor was very big into politics and he was asking kids who they were voting for and why. One girl said she was voting for him because he looked young. The professor then asked her if she could name any one of his policies and she couldn't. Same thing went for 10+ other students. Not one kid knew his stances on any issues.
Not that it's a bad thing. The guy can speak and he's winning over the younger crowd doing it.
-
I talked to 2 "kids" going to KU. They brought up the election. Both are engineers...both think Obama is a joke and both did a good job of destroying him and his ridiculous policies. They said that alot of supports have no idea what his policies are.
-
The guy can speak and he's winning over the younger crowd doing it.
He is a brilliant speaker. I "support" McCain, but I admit to haven gotten some goosebumps from Obamas speeches.

This is the most igornat fucking statement I've read on here. It's so easy for foreign countries to just stop doing business with America? It's so easy to just tell Americans to get out? Haha. America has been overthrowing regimes for corporate interests through the CIA for the last 50 years. Get a clue. In most countries especially third world countries the "people" have no choice and are powerless to stop their government. Plus the IMF and World Bank have known to destroy whole economies with the flick of a pen when it comes to currency speculation and extremely high interest loans if countries don't "play ball". This is what I"m talking about when I say most Americans are clueless when it comes to foreign policy.
Somalia: the entire social fabric of the pastoralist economy was undone through duty-free beef and dairy products from the EU.
Rwanda: the restructuring of the agricultural system precipitated the population into destitution, leading to a genocide.
Ethiopia: the Structural Adjustment Programme caused starvation.
Bangladesh: a devaluation and price liberalization exacerbated famine. Deregulation of the grain market meant dumping of US grain surpluses.
Brazil: enhancement of social polarization by supporting the land-owning class.
Peru: after liberalization, the price of bread increased more than 12 times.
Russia: helping the oligarchs.
India (Andhra Pradesh): repeal of minimum wages and support of caste exploitation
Yugoslavia: serving the strategic interests of Germany and the US by cutting the financial arteries between Belgrade and the republics.
Korea, Thailand, Indonesia: the vaults of the central banks (100 billion $) were pillaged by international speculators. The bail-outs of those countries were underwritten and guaranteed by the same Wall Street banks involved in the speculative assaults.
The IMF, World Bank and the U.S. has been responsible for lots of examples like those stated above throught their "support", "influence" or direct overthrow of governments through covert operations.
-

I agree... as a matter of fact myself, I have been flipping back and forth on quite a few things.
On one hand, I do like the idea of something different at the top, but that's just me rooting for the underdog, on the other hand, I don't like Obama's stance on guns.
Then there's McCain who is obviously going senile, but did serve his country in a time of war which is very important to me as well... Obama hasn't really said a lot about his policies and that worries me.
It's a very difficult decision this November.
-
Like I said before... Tell your governments to not deal with us.
Well, it's hardly likely they will listen to me. our Prime minister has a tendency to fellate oil producers.
On the odd chance that he did however, I doubt you'd like the outcome. Without Canadian oil or lumber, the prices at your pump would be 10x's worse than they are already. I doubt your economy can withstand much more of that. With higher priced and lesser quality American lumber, your housing market would be flushed out to sea. Right now it's deep in the toilet bowl after having fallen off it's precarious position teetering on the seat.
I'm sure the US couldn't possibly force the entire rest of the world to do our bidding if they chose not to.
Could you relay that to Bush and Cheney. Somehow I don't think they quite got the memo,
...and if they did, they might have treated it with the same disregard they showed all the warning issued to them about 911.
Are you saying that the US is SOOOO powerful that every other country on the planet couldn't tell us no together?
I think the numerous UN condemnations of American policies, as well as the recent invasion of Iraq demonstrates Bush's willingness to turn a deaf ear to the nations of the world, as well as the citizens of America, not to mention the US Constitution itself which he swore to uphold and defend.
Wow... Who knew?
Serious question... Do you buy American made goods? If so? Then why?
Absolutely! Not only do I buy American goods, I also market American made goods all over the world. ;D
I don't have a problem with Americans, American goods, or America herself. It's a few of her leaders and their foreign policies I'm concerned with.
-

I don't see you changing anything by bitching on a message board.

I think they're both two of the shittiest candidates I've ever seen. The only reason I'm leaning towards Obama is because I believe he'll fix economy quicker than McCain will. That being said, some of his foreign policy positions and a few other things really bother me. But to me, the economy is more important than anything right now. Terrorism is a very, very close second though.
-
We get alot of this from him. There are plenty of ways to help.
BF say it ain't so.....Obama will tax us into the ground. McCain is talking up Romney...he should make u feel better
-
Meltdown... Either do something about it or shut up.
I don't see you changing anything by bitching on a message board.
I've worked my ass off in support of Ron Paul. I attended rallys, delegate meetings, canvassed neighborhoods handing out information and trying to get local people informed. I donated a shit load of my own personal money to the campaign as well. So I've done a fuck lot more than bitching on a message board. What have you done? I would have loved to have attended the recent march in DC sponsored in support of RP but work obligations dictated otherwise.
-

BF say it ain't so.....Obama will tax us into the ground. McCain is talking up Romney...he should make u feel better
Romney as VP may be the single best thing McCain could do to make me feel better about his ability for his administration to potentially manage the economy.
I will agree with BF that I too am leaning Obama at the moment because I think his ability to turn around the economy will be greater than McCain's... I also think he is willing to listen to those more knowledgeable in foreign policy than McCain would be.
Willingness to listen to those who know more than you is a plus.
-
I don't know.....I'm currently fighting the war ur bitching about. I'm also working for the McCain campaign in MO.

Why do people ask a question, then tell the very people who have been so kind as to answer it to shut up?!

McCain is a fucking idiot. The fact that you support his campaign makes me think you are as big of an idiot. How could any intelligent person support someone so stupid. I mean if he represents the kind of intelligence that comes out of the U.S. military I pray for our country. Making jokes about killing Iranians is real smart? He knows nothing about economics and readily admits it.
I mean Bush is an idiot but McCain? Wow.

RP postions were idealistic and could never ever ever happen...ever. Ur diatribes against this country coupled with the CT bullshit really make me wonder about people who graduated from ......oh wait I could care less.
-
Haha yeah that damn idealistic Constitution! The one you took an oath to defend and uphold. Your intelligence really continues to surprise me.
-
Putin it the president of Gemany ahahahahahaha... Oh fuck....
-
Again...in fuzzy bunny land....some of his postions could work...after all many are conservative postions..however some were never going to work and thus he never had a shot. Great job backing a losing ticket.... ::)
Better the 57 states...u learn that in preschool.

It ain't so yet. Just where I happen to be leaning this month. I'll be done with school next year if I go one route and I don't want to enter the workforce in a giant recession. :'(

no it's not better. I'm having trouble keeping up with McCain's bloopers while you guys keep saying, "oh yea Obama thinks there's 57 states" man, I think we tipped the clueless scale toward McCain long ago. Backing a losing ticket? Well it's better than choosing between the lesser of two evils. It's called standing up for what you believe in. Didn't they teach you that in basic training....oops I mean preschool?

Don't forget about publicly making jokes about killing Iranians. Yeah a real bastion of common sense.

Suck down Grad school....
Yeah...Obama has no clue what his Iraq policy is...he has no clue what his foreign policy is....he said he'd never use nukes, he'd invade Pakistan....he does one thing and then imediately regrets it. And I like that song...
Well actually I learned how to kill shit and break things....but that was along time ago. I liked some of RP's stuff..but most were pipe dreams...and I could never risk having an blithering idiot take the Whitehouse.

Don't forget about publicly making jokes about killing Iranians. Yeah a real bastion of common sense.
I don't see anything wrong with that. It's called saber rattling. Every established country in the world does it.

It ain't so yet. Just where I happen to be leaning this month. I'll be done with school next year if I go one route and I don't want to enter the workforce in a giant recession. :'(
no worries... here's what you do. Set up a company around a basic need like water. Go to a third world country and make a deal with the government to obtain the water rights including rain collection. Make them a deal they can't refuse but that'll still mean big bucks for you. Then come back with the deal and get investors. Then hike the water prices 400% and cash in. :D

Quickerblade, please derail this into a thread about "sarging" (whatever that means) the all might gine.
haha what is that like scissoring or something?

I kind of wish I was a SEAL so I could join Blackwater. Those guys make 6 figures for a few months of work. The guy who set that up must be enjoying the fact that Islam is intent on getting the entire world to hate them.
I'd rather exploit the poor financially. :D

I think I saw Candidizzle talk about it. I think it means to go out there and get pussy. I'm not sure, though. I just wanted to use the word. I'll be honest, I always think of Sarge from Quake 3 when I see it.

Saber Rattling? LOL. It's how wars get started. It's one thing to make those comments in private but as the potential leader of the free world it's rather disgusting and pathetic. The Iranian people are as much responsible for the actions of their government and country as much as Americans are for theirs. Pretty powerless to stop it.

Ahh yes, I mean it's not like Iran hasn't been saying things along those lines for years now? ::)

Powerless....I guess, but then nobody is advocating killing the people, but going after a specific target. Pluse we've almost doubled imports to that country with Bush in office. Iran was helpful during the invasion of Afghanistan, but then nutbag got in and now we're dealing with his bullshit.
BF....go ahead and join.....do BUDS...get some trigger time and join. Short of that Blackwater will be setting up their own "bootcamp" where they will train their own. Prince wants to be able to field a complete Infantry Bde with air support. Completely self sufficient.....u hire em, they go in and down what they do...and then pucnh out.

I actually told myself that I'd give it a few years out of school to see how it works out and if it didn't that I would try BUDS for shits and giggles. I've got two buddies in the Navy that are going to be going into it in the next few years. One of them has two or three SEALs in his family. Kid is tailor made for the military. Left school in the middle of freshman year to enlist. I think the cut off is 28 or so, isn't it? Not that I think I'm a badass but it would be cool to do in my opinion. The special forces stuff I read about it very interesting.
I probably wouldn't make it through hell week. :-X
You ever play Metal Gear Solid? Sounds just like Ocelot when he sets up his own private army with the best fighters from across the world. Cool shit. I was reading about Blackwater a few months ago and that new facility they were building on a huge patch of land in North Carolina (I think). Very cool stuff going on there.
apple pie :D
Hedge funds, baby! Could be the next Soros and drive a country like England out of the foreign exchange market! They're also responsible for destroying the Asian stock market in the 90s, hahaha!
Thread derailment successful.

Are you talking to me? Let's not start down this road... You're still on the list.
Actually, it was a more of a rhetorical question rather than directed to any one person.
{giggle} I'd be a liar if I didn't admit that I'm tempted to ask "Now that I've answered your question, are you going to tell me to shut up?"

If that's what you think, the point flew over your head.

Will it make you feel more at ease?
If so... "shut up".

Very awesome, but why would you want to derail Danileson's thread? Isn't his point one you yourself have posted by on getbig ;)
