I was just reading about how difficult it can be on a person that is being weaned off of prednisone and that if it's done too fast it can actually be deadly! How are you doing/feeling?
:)

It is a rough process and a very slow one too. And yes, if on the dosages I'm on, it can be deadly if you just stop taking it at such high dosages.
Regarding me...well, actually I had a relapse last week. I got the cough back. Doc said he thinks the Sarcoidosis hadn't come down enough to wean down the prednisone (it's putting up a fight >:(). So he upped it back up to 35mg per day and will bring me down 2.5mg every 2 weeks. He also put me on another medication because I started getting lesions as well :'(. While on that medication I can not go out in the sun or my skin will burn :o. It's been pretty tough :-\ but I'm trying to get through it. Thank you for asking about me Stella. :-*

Dang that stuff is nasty :( But I guess it served/is serving it's purpose and was/is needed :-\
Does your doc have a projection of when you may be completely off of it and can go in the sun/live life normally again?

Probably another 8 months if I only go down 2.5mg every 2 weeks from 35mg. :(

Possibly. My doctor told me this is will most likely be a life long illness. I wasn't too happy to hear that.

You could be like one of those turn of the century southern belles - and carry a dainty parasol. :D

Laura, there are alot of kids who go through what you do, but theirs is a genetic defect call XP
(Xeroderma pigmentosum). They're also called moon children because they have to dress up in what looks like moon suits just to go outside. They cannot be exposed to any light at all. If you do a little research on the internet, you should be able to find peer resource groups that many parents use to cope with the situation and find some solutions that will fit into your lifestyle. It must be a pretty difficult adjustment for you because you didn't have these restrictions placed on you at birth
You also might want to try DNA repair créme applied to your face and hands or any other vulnerable area that despite your precautions might inadvertently get exposed to sunlight.

I would send you one, but I just sold my last one to a woman in Alaska. sorry :'(
