When I posted my first paycheck from Ron for modding multi boards there was a bit of a backlash and a few holdouts from other mods, maybe that's it.

Because when you demand to see proof, you are essentially calling them a liar.  :D

In some cultures, it's considered highly impolite to even talk about money, much less reveal proof of such money,
...but also too, depending on your profession, in some markets, it's illegal to reveal your paycheck and/or income.

People get pissed off because they are angered by what they interpret as unconscionable disrespect when they encounter someone who refuses to accept the individual's unwillingness to risk a significant paycheque for no other purpose than to satisfy someone else voyeuristic curiosity. Of course most people outside of these affected professions are often unaware of the unfair restrictions placed on the people in within these professions, but it still breeds resentment.

How would you feel if someone called you a liar, then turned around and asked you to jeopardize your income for no valid purpose other than to satisfy his curiosity?   :-\

Besides, ...someone else's income shouldn't really concern you 'cause you don't get to spend any of it.  ;D
