Title: I don't think this will ever take the place of a lat machine...

I'm guess that this contraption that Melvin Anthony and Phil  Heath are on is a variation of the lat pulldown machine...

The ROM looks somewhat similar to the old Nautilus lat machine with the roller pads for your elbows.
I’ve tried a unilateral pull down machine made by Gervasport. Unlike the one in the video though, the pull comes straight down – not an arch. It's okay...

I do prefer the traditional lat pull down, but I wouldn’t mind trying the one depicted above.
Odd that there’s no thigh pad to help hold you down in the seat. Unless there's a "seatbelt" that I can't see.

It doubles as a pull up machine.

there is usually a seat beat/strap to keep you locked in the seat
