There were an awful lot of Getbiggers claiming that UFC card was great. There was nothing at all appealing about it and it showed. It seems to be the UFC modus operandi as of late. Put on mediocre cards and hope that people buy them. Usually what happens when no competition exists. Here's to hoping Affliction does what needs to be done.
I had already posted this once but Mindspin deleted it on the account that he can't come to grips with the fact that all that bullshit he spewed turned out to be just that, bullshit. :D

Even though I was hoping to have a more competitive main event(which was doubtful to begin with), the Affliction card was much better and had better fights.
I only read about the UFC card and the winners. But the articles I've read have the card as being very shitty.
-
I bought the affliction ppv and flipped over to the UFC during lulls in the action. Affliction was a phenomenal show. The only thing I didn't care for was megadeath. However, that is a simple a music preference and does not reflect on the quality of the show.

The Affliction card was easily the best card on American soil since the last Pride card. If Affliction can set a standard for putting on cards of that caliber, then MMA is going to get a lot better. I'm tired of the UFC monopoly and shit cards that they've been putting on since they bought Pride.
Affliction needs to go out and sign all the Pride fighters that didn't get picked up by the UFC, like Arona and co.
-
what was so good with it? i predicted the outcome of 8 outta 9 fights. thats not very fun to watch IMO.

Really lad? Damnit after last night's pathetic UFC display I wish I would have spent the 40 on the Affliction. I only went UFC because it was a freebee.

i wish ufc really had a monopoly, then we would finally get to see everybody fighting everybody. just as in bodybuilding we see all the best in the olympia.

You mean like all the fights they promised when they bought Pride and the fact that zero of them have come to fruition? You are the stupidest fanboy I've ever met. No business sense either. Not surprising, you make $10k a year and live in a shithole. ::)

how the fuck can you sit there and put bodybuilding and MMA in the same sentence is beyond me

which fights would that be? please list them.
if ufc had monopoly and every fighter belonged to their organization, the chance that eventually the fighters we want to see fighting eachother is way higher than spreading it out thin over several organizations all over the world.

What monopoly you stupid ass? They had their chance to sign all the Pride fighters. They didn't. They promised a Pride vs UFC tournament, match ups that everyone wanted to see and a host of other things. The only fight that we got out of it was Wandy/Liddell. They just about had a monopoly there and the only thing they managed to do was decrease the quality of their cards by 50% because stooge fanboys like you will shell out money for anything with UFC plastered on it.
Stop trying to prove to us how low your IQ is.

Aflication put together a really good show, but I do think they over did it....like all the confedy at the end of the last fight...that was kind of gay....and the show organizers really made the ring announcer earn his money that night! All in all, it was definateley more hard core than UFC, I didn't realize big john McCarthy would be at ring side, anatating and hosting the show....also noticed herb dean (another referee) defected from the UFC.

I don't think it's that easy to sign everybody. they did sign quite a bunch though. And quite a few of them was disappointing (crocop and shogun to name just two)
The more fighters that end up in UFC the better it is.

not sure about herb defecting, from what i can remember he shows up in different shows

Why are you contradicting yourself? If they had a monopoly, then they would sign those very guys. They had their chance and didn't. What exactly are you trying to prove here? That you're a moron?
The only thing that would change if the UFC had a monopoly would be that MMA would be that the cards would get even shittier.

If they had monopoly it would be easier to sign them, they didnt and it wasnt. Im not contradicting myself. You just fail to see this.
And if they had monopoly there would be a FAR greater chance those fights to happen than otherwise.

Wow, you are one stupid person. You don't even understand the basic principles of business. Can you tell me why anti-trust laws exist in this world?
Yeah, they would sign them for less, underpay the fighters and continue to put on shit cards. They promised all this shit when they bought Pride and absolutely none of it has happened. They said they would put on Pride vs UFC cards. Never happened. Claimed they would put together all the fights everyone wanted. Never happened.
The only thing they've done is get retards like to pay for shitty cards. I'll bet you're one of those 400,000 twats that shelled out $45.00 for Bisbing - Evans. ::)
Why are you so infatuated with sucking on Dana's asshole? You're a impoverished Czech with no life. You trying to live vicariously through an internet forum doesn't get any more hilarious.

Exactly THEY WOULD SIGN THEM. and eventually we would see those fights come about, if not all, then a lot, and far more than we see today.
And UFC sure as hell put on a shitload of great fights this year. No doubt about it :)

Way to fuck up the quote function.
-
The best fight of the night was watching Burns eye gauge a man into submission.
WTF? They gave him the fight ??? >:(
He must have sparred with Liddel.
-
Finally watched the whole thing(most in ffw), it was pretty bad.
-
It's a FIGHT NIGHT card and needs to be viewed as such, I can't remember you guys bitching about how bad a FREE fight night card been before so the complaints about this card isnt very fair.

Compared to the last few fight night cards it sucked.

But people are not comparing it to other fight night cards (and as we know this was short notice) they compare it to Affliction.

Just because you predicted the outcome does not make the fights any less good. I mean unless you are on the UFC's payroll how can you not see that the Affliction card from top to bottom was better then anything the UFC has put on for a long time now. Don't get me wrong there have been soem real good individual matches they have put on in the past year (Henderson/Rampage, Liddell/Silva, Henderson/A Silva, etc...) but as total card Affliction was better.
I understand this was a fight night card and as such it is not meant to have the same thunder as PPV but this was really an attampt by Dana to compete with Afflictions card

Bluto is an adamant TUF fanboy. He can't stand seeing the UFC fall back to #2. Fact of the matter is that more than one or two Getbiggers said that Fight Night card looked better on paper and like usual, it turned out to be horseshit.
There hasn't been one entire UFC card as good as the Affliction card in a long time. Like you said, there were some good fights here and there, but for the most part the cards have sucked. That's what happens when you have an organization protecting fighters and recycling the same matches over and over.
-
Affliction card was average at best.
Full of unexciting, predictable fights with mostly UFC leftovers.
-
Either way lads, the UFC was free, and you gotta approach it as such. Affliction had a killer card in contrast to the UFC's. I agree that it is hard to fork over loot when you can call a huge majority of Affliction's winners, but on the other side that Irvin display was just aweful. I was hoping he would have at least lasted 2 rounds. Instead, he got fuckin peeled back in the first minute. :-\

A lot like PRIDE, a couple monsters, the rest filler. Megadeth coulda beat the first few. I don't see many UFCers jumping ship either. All very Weiderish.

The UFC card blew, and I'm a UFC fan. I would have hated if I'd have had to buy it on PPV, but I would have. The affliction card was pretty damn good. Say what you want about Arlovski, Barnett and Rizzo being washed up UFC guys, but it was a damn good card.

If they would have charged for that UFC card, then a lot of the "free" fight people would have bought the Affliction event: instead. I knew the Affliction card was going to be great, but curse my parents for raising a cheap skate ;D.
-
Agreed. I dvr'd them both just because I'm a fan and wanted to see them both. But I would have been sorely pissed at Dana if he had ever put together a PPV card like that.
Even though some of the recent cards have looked along the same line.
